Get rdy: Competitive guide for July 13-19th

Get rdy with me; The upcoming weekly planner for competitive matches.

A new week is upon us and that means events and competitive matches will be gearing up or winding down. With this season's packed schedule it is easy to miss something, so we've compiled a weekly planning guide to keep track of what is going on.

League of Legends

MSI

MSI wrapped up with in thrilling fashion with LCK team Hanwha Life Esports triumphing over the previously dominant Bilibili Gaming. HLE had fallen to the lower bracket after being defeated by BBG in the upper bracket semi-final, and had an instant-classic against LYON to get a second chance at Bilibili.

In the finals, HLE struck first, sending a message to BBG that this one was going to be a challenge. But the LPL team clawed back two games in a row, meaning it would be a full five games before HLE could lift the trophy.

The win is Hanwha Life’s second international victory of the year, after winning First Stand earlier this year, but is also the LCK teams first major title. The organization which has competed in LoL since 2018 has never won a Worlds or MSI trophy before.

Now for the majority of MSI teams there will be a short break and a trip to Paris for the Esports World Cup 2026.

EWC

LoL at EWC 26 kicks off on Wednesday, July 15. Bilibili Gaming, HLE, G2 Esports, T1, and 12 other teams will compete for the largest prize pool in competitive LoL: $2,000,000 USD. Perhaps most exciting for local fans though will be yet another chance to cheer for Karmine Corp. The French team has created a stir at almost every Road Trip event this year, and Paris is expected to be no different, despite KC’s early exit from MSI 2026.

Notably, this is also the shortest break between major events we’ve perhaps ever seen in League of Legends. Teams will have just two days to travel from Korea, settle in and get ready to compete on stage at Paris on Wednesday.

Counter-Strike 2

We're not going to lie. There's not a lot going on this week.

However, with Real Counter-Strike (tm) starting again in eight days time, this week is merely a warm-up. There'll be a few roster moves left to be confirmed (we have had an article written ready for MOUZ to announce their fifth for weeks now), maybe some drama (also MOUZ related) and plenty of matchmaking to be played on Cache ready for the new season.

Just chill out this week, and maybe watch some demos of the new unknown MongolZ' lads so you can sound really, really smart in Twitch chat when they play. That's our plan, anyway. if you check the CS channel in discord there's a link to the potential 'MOUZ drama' I mentioned if you want to embed it

Dota 2

Esports World Cup 2026

The event marks the final championship of the fourth ESL Pro Tour season and serves as the last major international LAN before teams turn their full attention to The International 2026 and it is finally getting into the meat of it all after a full week of group stage.

Starting on Tuesday, July, 14th, twelve teams enter the Survival Stage, where a single loss means elimination.

Stage 2: Survival (July 14 - July 15)

  • Single-elimination
  • 4th vs 3rd from groups → winner vs 2nd
  • All matches are Bo3
  • Four teams advance

The stakes are high right out of the gate with the first matches starting at 13:00 CEST.

There are two series at 13:00 and two at 16:30 CEST.

If you can watch only one series at a time, highly suggest LGD going head-to-head with MOUZ at 13:00 followed by Team Liquid take on Xtreme Gaming at 16:30.

Only four teams will survive and advance to the playoffs, joining Team Falcons, Aurora Gaming, PVISION, and Team Yandex. Playoffs begin on Thursday, July 16th.
