Get rdy: Competitive guide for August 17th-23rd

Get rdy with me; The upcoming weekly planner for competitive matches.

A new week is upon us and that means events and competitive matches will be gearing up or winding down. With this season's packed schedule it is easy to miss something, so we've compiled a weekly planning guide to keep track of what is going on.

League of Legends

LCK

The LCK 2026 Regular Season is entering its final week, with just two matches each left for the majority of teams. It's the last chance for the LCK’s organizations to lock in a Playoff spot, or face a battle for the finals through the Play-in stage. Worlds contention is on the line as Korea’s premier LoL league reaches its climax.

LEC

The LEC Summer 2026 concludes its fourth and enters its penultimate week. It’s a crucial time for playoff seeding, as only the top six teams will make it. Karmine Corp and G2 Esports are (unsurprisingly) locked in, but Vitality, Movistar KOI and others are still in the hunt.

Last week Caps became the first western player inducted into LoL Esports Hall of Legends, despite criticism of his inclusion over early forebears. That said, his G2 team still has a chance to finish the season at the top of the table.

LPL

In the LPL, Bilibili Gaming became the first major regional team to qualify for World 2026 from regular season standings. While MSI Champion Hanwha Life had locked in an invite, and minor region Secret Whales were also qualified, Bilibili’s performance over the past three LPL splits meant they would receive an invite to worlds regardless of any finish they now have to the season.

The final week of the LPL 2026 Split 3 begins now, with just four spots remaining for LPL Playoff contention.

Counter-Strike 2

EWC

EWC has been a riot so far, and now with playoffs set we expect it to go up another notch.

Spirit have been a bit all over the place, Vitality lost to B8 and FURIA seem to be falling apart, if rumours are to be believed - so that leaves Falcons in prime position. The only issue is, they're famous for being a bit flappy, last Major apart. They're facing The MongolZ, who have proven tricky, but are unlikely to be a massive problem.

FaZe vs Vitality is obviously the tie of the round. A resurgent FaZe in good nick against a wobbly version of the best team of all time is prime upset territory, and FaZe on stage - even sans karrigan - are always cinema. Spirit take on B8, which will likely get them out of trouble, while NAVI get Legacy. That's all on one side of the bracket!

On the other, G2 meet Astralis in a very unpredictable game, FUT take on magic, FURIA meet a new-look Aurora (winner keeps molodoy?) and GamerLegion square up to MOUZ. No, it's not just you. It is a lop-sided bracket. FURIA should make the final.

Dota 2

The International 2026

The International 2026's road to the Aegis started on Thursday, August 13th with 16 teams competing in the biggest tournament of the year. The opening stages have already delivered plenty of memorable Dota, with some of the most thrilling series and individual games including:

  1. TEAM VISION vs. Team Falcons (Group Stage - Opening Day)
  2. Nigma Galaxy vs. Team Spirit (Playoff Decider - Game 2)
  3. Boom Boys vs. Iron Wing (Group Stage - Game 3)
  4. Team Yandex vs. LGD Gaming (Elimination Round - Game 3)

By the end of the modified Swiss System, the field had already begun to thin, with HULIGANI, OG, and Xtreme Gaming becoming the first three teams eliminated.

The stakes only grew in the Elimination Round, where five do-or-die series determined the rest of the playoff field. ViCi Gaming, Aurora Gaming, Team Resilience, GamerLegion, and LGD Gaming all saw their TI runs come to an end.

That leaves just eight teams still in the hunt for the Aegis as The International moves to the main stage and its double-elimination playoff bracket.

The action resumes on Thursday, August 20th, with all four Upper Bracket Quarterfinals taking place:

Main Event

  • August 20-23
  • Double-elimination bracket
  • All matches are Bo3
  • Grand Final is Bo5
