All rdy: Your weekly recap of December 7 - 14th
Nothing is ever stagnant or dull when it comes to the Dota 2 scene. Amidst the constant swirl of drama, tournaments, patches, and roster swaps, there’s always something unfolding behind the stage. From surprise upsets and standout performances to off-stage hiccups, each week brings a fresh mix of chaos and exctiment to our favorite (and often times most hated) game.
Tournaments
DreamLeague Season 27
The first ESL Pro Tour of the 2025-2026 season kicked off DreamLeague Season 27 with 24 teams competing for the lion's share of the $1,000,000 prize. The teams have been locked into the swiss system group stage with 12 best-of-three series taking place daily.
With only one day left in the group stage, Team Falcons is in the lead with a perfect series record 5:0. But not far behind them is OG, Team Spirit and Virtus.pro, each with 4:1 records. Chinese fans will be pleasantly surprised to note that Xtreme Gaming has shown up to this event in better form and sits in 5th place with a 3:2 record, so far primed for a spot in the playoffs.
Teams and Players
Speaking of DreamLeague Season 27...
PARIVISION
Filipe "Astini" Ribeiro parted ways with PARIVISION. Astini had been with the team for one year, helping the team reach top three at both EWC 2025 and then again at The International 2025. Instead, in a bold move, the team recruited none-ither-than Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov as coach to help defend their DreamLeague Season 26 title. Currently the Eastern European team is sittin gin 7th place hoping for a spot in the playoffs.
HEROIC
As in life, every action in Dota 2 carries a butterfly effect. With Astini’s departure from PARIVISION comes his addition to HEROIC for DreamLeage Season 27. Unfortunately for them, the team is currently 1:4 and looking down the barrel of potential elimination from the event.
BetBoom Team
BetBoom will be playing the remainder of the tournament without midplayer Danil "gpk" Skutin. The Russian player had nose surgery prior to the event and thought he would be recovered enough to compete. However, as of late he has not been feeling well and needs to step back.
In his stead Gleb "kiyotaka" Zyryanov will assume the role. BetBoom is currently sitting in 6th place with a 3:2 record, hoping the swap in players will benefit and not harm them.
Updates and Patches
With Valve's official blog post regarding broadcast license requests for The International 2026, the dates were also revealed indirectly.
- Regional Qualifiers: June 9- 28, 2026
- The International 2026 group stage and playoffs: August 13–23, 2026
Although the venue has not yet been set, fans can at least start requesting their vaction/holiday leave from work.
Patch
The most recent update was just merely a return of the recent Quarter's Curios event.
December 12th, 2025, sees the return of the event, which will now run alongside the Monster Hunter x Dota 2 event. Without even a mention of it on the Dota 2 blog, players logging in were greeted by the cursed Satyr and 3 new sets to work towards for the event period.
In addition, a FROG was found in Dota 2 inciting speculation and rumors that it was a potential teaser for a new hero.
The frog has 50 sets of animations whic is considered aytpical for a regualr cosmetic pet. Some of the animations were marked as ult, leading miners and fans to assume it is connected to the ultimate ability. Others are marked as teleport. Either way, we think its cute and look forward to seeing where it all leads — especially since we were deprived a new hero reveal at TI this year.
