Quartero's Curios is back. That's it. That's the patch.
It’s that time of the year in Dota 2 where we celebrate Frostivus – but not in 2025, where we only get the return of Quartero’s Curios.
Dota 2 players want very few things in life. Decent teammates, wards, Arcanas, and the return of some of our favourite events that have become almost a tradition. While we have, in time, given up on the return of Diretide, we were ready for the holiday Frostivus event to return in December, to spread joy as we steal each other’s hats, build snowmen, and collect some cosmetics.
Unfortunately, in the true spirit of 2025, it seems as though Frostivus has been cancelled.
Quartero’s Curios returns
Waking up on a Friday morning and checking to see if there has been a Dota 2 update can feel like Christmas. But what happens when that update is merely the return of the recent Quartero’s Curios event, and not our beloved Frostivus fun?

Well, we get some new cosmetic sets that might feel like coal stuffed in our stockings.

December 12th, 2025, sees the return of the event, which will now run alongside the Monster Hunter x Dota 2 event. Without even a mention of it on the Dota 2 blog, players logging in were greeted by the cursed Satyr and 3 new sets to work towards for the event period.
The three new sets available are:
- Shadow Shaman – Nether Beetle
- Axe – Ember Enforcer
- Shadow Fiend – Molten Monarch

Players were also quick to notice that they could purchase the previously available sets via Shards – although the prices are slightly ridiculou, with nearly 1,000,000 shards required to complete the "Antiques" sets. However, the new event will run until March 6th, 2026, ending one month after the Monster Hunter one.
Much like the previous Quartero’s Curio event, nearly every early level will net you something special in the cosmetic department. This comes in the form of either a piece of a hero’s cosmetic set, or special effects for in-game items. With Antiques rewarded at levels 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 60, 80, 100, 200, and 300, players can grab themselves tons of extra sets and possible Arcanas for their grind.
While players might still be holding out hope for Frostivus to return to us next week, it is unlikely that we will see three concurrent events overlapping within the game. There were also many hopeful for patch 7.40 to finally grace the game, but it seems as though we may be waiting a bit longer for a major gameplay update.
