DreamLeague Season 29
Speaking of ESL Pro Tour DreamLeague Series, there will be a change in the event format for DreamLeague Season 29.
According to organisers, the format is 'originally inspired by The International 6's format'.
With 16 teams present, the event will feature 2 groups of 8 teams with a round robin group stage into double-elimination playoffs. Notable features of the event are:
- Bo3 Group Stage
- Bottom 2 teams eliminated from each group
- 4 teams start in Lower Bracket, 8 teams in upper bracket
- All playoff games Bo3, Grand Finals Bo5
DreamLeague Season 29 is set to take place between May 13-19th, 2026.
In addition there have been some udpates on DreamLeague Division 2 for Season 3 and 4.
Season 3
Division 2 Season 3 will take place from Feb 4-12, featuring 8 teams and $50,000 in Total Winnings. Invites will be determined based on qualifiers taking place in January.
In order to be eligible to play in Division 2 Season 3, all teams must be capable of playing in DreamLeague Season 28, which starts just a few days after on February the 16th.
The winner of this event will now qualify directly to DreamLeague Season 28, taking place in February.
Season 4
Division 2 Season 4 will take place from April 19 to May 1, featuring 16 teams and $50,000 in Total Winnings. Invites will be determined based on performance throughout the Season so far, with the possibility for 1-2 wildcard invites.
The 1st and 2nd place teams will qualify directly to DreamLeague Season 29, taking place in May.
BLAST Slam
Beginning with BLAST Slam VI in Malta this coming February, the entire LAN playoff stage will be an endurance battle, as every series, from the opening quarterfinals to the grand finals, will be played in a best-of-five(Bo5) format. This shift marks an evolution for the tournament, known for its unique and cutthroat structure. Previously, only the grand final was a Bo5, with the quarterfinals and semifinals operating on a best-of-three (Bo3), single elimination basis.
Updates and Patches
Patch
Dota 2 Patch 7.40 is finally here, and it has everything you hoped for! Headlining the patch is the release of the long-anticipated new hero, Largo, accompanied by a Winter 2025 Collector’s Cache, significant map changes, and plenty of gameplay reworks aimed to redefine the meta.
Patch 7.40 overhauls several core systems. The most notable change is to the talent system; talents now no longer consume skill points. Instead, heroes earn dedicated talent points at specific levels, granting more flexible build paths.
New Hero
Largo wields his mandolin as both instrument and weapon, strumming melodies that empower allies and unsettle enemies. A Strength-based support, he’s built to stand his ground while setting the tempo of fights, bolstering his team’s spellcasting and turning skirmishes into carefully orchestrated performances. His sticky tongue and easy-going demeanor win over friends and foes alike, while his stomping amphibian companions keep the beat whether anyone asked them to or not.
