Team Spirit swap two following Major disappointment

Team Spirit have rung the changes following what was for them a pretty disappointing season, despite winning IEM Cologne at the start of August.

For most teams, that alone would make it a pretty solid season, but the lack of any other big trophies and only making semi-finals of the Major mean that heads, apparently, must roll, and the IGL and new role player are the ones who have been cut.

For zwieh, this ends a period of just five months on the Team Spirit roster. For chopper, it signals the end of a nearly seven year run with Team Spirit, albeit with a break in the middle

When chopper joined Team Spirit, donk had not long turned 12 years old. zweih was 11.

magixx and zont1x will be rejoining the team following a period of absence.

This wasn't out of the blue by any means, and everyone expected some changes following the last few months. donk and sh1ro make up one of the most potent duos in Counter-Strike, but neither tN1R nor zweih found any consistent form on this team and Spirit, ultimately, did not move forwards from the previous roster.

tN1R was a big ticket roster move and as such will be given more time, while zweih has consistently looked uncomfortable being a role player for a team of this stature. chopper as the leader shoulders quite a bit of the blame for the lack of consistent threat from the third star in the system, though one wonders how much impact hally has in that given he has in the past talked about how much impact he has on their style.

Their style was inconsistent, and it did seem to get the best out of donk - at least one assumes; if there is another level for donk to find, we're very excited to see it. He is almost unquestionably the best player in the world, and it'll be interesting to see the tweaks this season to see how Spirit try and find a way to harness tN1R.

Perhaps we have to see slightly less ridiculousness from donk just to give him the space.
