Spirit and Vitality dominate in quick quarter-finals - Budapest Major

Via StarLadder

donk broke his curse by finally defeating NiKo and m0NESY as Spirit cruised into the semi-finals.

This went as expected if you watched both teams in the group stage, but murmurs of donk's inability to beat NiKo persisted right up until Spirit smashed Falcons on Nuke - but it wasn't donk who topped the scoreboard. Instead, it was the much-maligned zweih who showed up in spades with a dynamite performance.

He dropped 21 on Falcons' heads with NiKo, kyxsan and TeSeS combining for 13. We're not professional analysts or anything, but we'd suggest it's quite hard to win in that scenario, and it proved to be. Falcons picked up just four rounds on their own map pick.

That took us into Dust 2, where thankfully there was a bit more of a fight. NiKo woke up at least, but it felt at times he was the only one fighting. zweih continued to impress, albeit not quite as ridiculously as map one, but this time it was time for donk, who scythed through Falcons like a shark fin through water.

He dropped 30 in a 16-12 overtime win, and Falcons were sent packing.

The second semi-final was pretty anti-climactic with ZywOo absolutely kicking the life out of The MongolZ, who barely put a scratch on Vitality.

ZywOo put up some of the most inhuman numbers you've ever seen as he looked like he was playing aim_botz on map one, and he wasn't exactly quiet on Dust 2 either.

He ended the series with 46 kills in 35 rounds, 131 ADR and a 2.18 rating, which again, makes it quite hard to win the game if you're on the opposing side. There was basically no reprieve or positive to take for The MongolZ, who won nine rounds and can count themselves a bit lucky to have got that many on the balance of play.

Vitality look like they might be back in title winning form. Watch out.
