PGL Unveils 2027-2028 Tournament Program as it Pledges 12 New Events

Tournament organizer PGL has announced a brand new suite of Counter-Strike 2 events as it expands its investment in the scene.

Announced across social media on Monday, March 9, PGL revealed at least 12 tournaments to take place across the 2027 and 2028, including LAN events and a brand new revenue format.

PGL Announces New Tier 1 Tournament Program for 2027-2028

As detailed in an accompanying blog post, PGL’s roadmap for the next two years introduces a new Tier 1 structure to its CS2 events, including at least six premier events per year. As part of this PGL has pledged $22,000,000 in a new prize pool and revenue structure.

This enhanced revenue will come in the form of both club rewards for events (reportedly $3,000,000 per year distributed across the six annual events), plus an addition $5,000,000 to teams divided into a $2.2 million VRS invite bonus and $2.8 million annual viewership incentive. More in-depth details about the revenue structure can be found in PGL’s post.

In their announcement, PGL also described an “enhanced hospitality experience” for teams and players attending each event. This will reportedly include travel covered for eight team members per team, 4-star hotels or higher with single rooms for all players, top of the line PCs and hardware, integrity focused scheduling, fan engagement opportunities and support for teams outside of these measures.
