PARIVISION and Falcons pull off crazy wins - BLAST Bounty playoffs day three
PARIVISION pulled off one of what might well end up being one of the results of the year with a 2-0 (!) over FURIA.
Jame has somehow turned this group of talented but previously unknown (bar zweih) riflers into an elite squad of killers, and recreated AVANGAR. He's done this a few times now, and each time it's more impressive than the last. He's taken two different teams to Major finals and won one of them, and... look, we're not ready to say it might happen again yet, but we also wouldn't bet against it.
That sounds hyperbolic, but wins over Spirit and FURIA on LAN in playoffs are not to be sniffed at. While a lot of teams stood still this roster season, PARIVISION got a big upgrade and putting these teams to the sword.
xiELO was a breakout player at the Major and was the driving force on Mirage in what ended up being quite a comfortable win. zweih had some massive moments too, including a huge clutch to put PARIVISION on 11 with the game in the balance. That was the stake in the heart for FURIA, who never recovered and lost 13-8.
Inferno was much closer, going right down to the wire, but fittingly it was xiELO who finished the game with a very important 1v2, though in truth every player (bar maybe FalleN) had their moments on Inferno.
This was not a fluke win. This was damn impressive.
Team Falcons could feel a little hard done by missing out on the headlines, really, after they took down the reigning Major champions with a stand-in to also make the grand final.
NiKo has stepped up in the absence of kyousuke and reminded us all why he's the feared name that he is, and he was excellent on both maps Falcons won. The less said about Anubis, in his case, though, the better. He dropped a 21-9 scoreline on the decider to put Vitality to bed, and was joined by the stand-in NucleonZ at the top of the scoreboard.
The rookie, just 18 years old, has been thrown into the deep end and he's swimming his little heart out. He was perfectly serviceable on the first two maps, and then superb on map three in the biggest moment of his fledgling career, and for that he deserves massive praise.
It should be mentioned that this was one of ZywOo's worst series in a long time, with two maps with under a 0.60 rating. That's practically unheard of, and a testament to how rampant the Falcons aggressors were.
Somehow, against all odds, Falcons are in the final. And bizarrely, they're playing PARIVISION for the trophy.
Not a single one of you would have predicted this. Don't lie.
