NAVI end the FaZe dream as Vitality rise to face them at BLAST Rivals

Credit: Stephanie Lindgren

NAVI stopped the FaZe train dead in its tracks with a typically solid, well-rounded performance.

Their ability to consistently play at this level and rarely have a stand-out carry, instead getting output from the whole core, is incredibly impressive, and though makazze is usually the top dog he’s not miles away from the pack.

This is what makes them immune to the tricks and the ‘magic’ of FaZe - their ruthless consistency and systemic solidity. There are no holes, no gimmicks, no BS with NAVI. You have to beat them fair and square, and that’s not how FaZe do things.

Dust 2 was, as it so often is, decided by the AWPers. broky had under half of w0nderful’s kills, and you felt it. Especially in the second half, where w0nderful had four separate multikill rounds, with the opening kill in two of those. That’s ridiculous impact; one third of the rounds on the T half he had a multikill in, and he opened up those rounds in the first place.

broky, on the other hand, only had one multikill all map. AWP-mogged.

Ancient was a lot closer, and we had a near-miss with that aforementioned FaZe magic, as NAVI let their 9-3 lead fall to 9-10, but refound their composure to win four of the next five and take the map.

Given it went down to round 24, it’s hard not to point once more to w0nderful, who won an absurd 1v4 on the B bombsite in the final round of the first half - little did we know quite how impactful that round would end up being.

NAVI go on to the finals.

Unsurpirsingly, Vitality pushed past GamerLegion to meet NAVI in extremely dominant fashion - at least on map one.

ZywOo ended the first map with a 7 K/D, which quite frankly tells the whole story. He and flameZ absolutely demolished GamerLegion, who could only dig out 21 kills combined over 14 rounds. Not great.

A third of them were on apEX.

Overpass was a completely different story, though, as GamerLegion competed - more than that, they pushed Vitality to overtime. Snax was rolling back the years at times and ended the map as the top fragger with 28 kills, but Vitality's depth proved too much in the end. GamerLegion can take heart from the fact that they were able to win seven T rounds on Overpass against the best team of all time, though.

Vitality, predictably, are in the finals. Everyone act shocked.
