molodoy interview: “Maybe it's very important for FalleN to win this Major, but we are not overthinking it”

FURIA's molodoy on FalleN's final Major run, adapting his playstyle, and why the team isn't overthinking the pressure.

The last dance has become a Brazilian Counter-Strike cliche, yet never has it been more appropriate than it is now.

We’re only a few months away from the music stopping for FalleN, whose FURIA side are now in the Major playoffs, hoping to give him a proper send off.

That’s why when we got to speak to molodoy on media day, we asked him about their chances, the pressure of a legend’s last run, and how he’s adapted over time.

I gotta ask you the obvious question. First, you have to be happy about the way the brackets turned out for you?

I'm not overthinking about the bracket. I'm just trying to do my best. That's first. Second thing, it's kind of a good bracket for us, but who knows?

Obviously, you guys know Fallen's retiring at the end of the season. Does that add more pressure on you guys to win this Major, to get him one more before he quits the game?

You know, always in a Major, you have good teams. Maybe it's very important for Fallen to win this Major, but we are not overthinking it, and we are just trying to do our best, you know, and we are trying to help him. I think it's all for him and for us.

There's something I talked to Yuurih about in Rotterdam, and he said that sometimes when they tried to change the way they played on T-side, it could be hard for you to find your playstyle in that. Over the last month or two, have you managed to get to grips with the changing meta, and has that worked out for you now?

I think before PGL, we played BLAST in America. We lost against FaZe, and before that tournament, I tried to change my whole game. Not only on the T-side, but on the CT-side as well. It's always very hard to change something. But I think if you want, you will change. It's always like this.

What have you worked on actively, like what has changed in your gameplay?

I think before I used to think only about my individual self, but now I'm thinking more about team stuff, and I think that’s all.

When the animation changed, a lot of people theorized that it would be better for AWPers. It's been a little while now since it happened, things have settled down. Is it easier for you now that the animations are different, or is it still hard in CS2 to hit your shots?

I'd say that when you play CS2 this much, you know, I think it's normal. Now it’s normal. Because you always play Counter-Strike, you’re not thinking it’s not the same. Maybe there’s some change, but for me it’s already always normal.

My final question for you is: what's it going to take for Furia to win this Major?

We will see.
