karrigan gets first win as PARIVISION and Aurora slip up

Via PGL

We called this the event that Vitality can't win, and that might leave an open path for Falcons.

We're not going to go overboard after a relatively simple 2-0 win over K27, so we'll just call them the second best team of all time for now. karrigan's individual form appears to have continued, but it's crazy how much better his leading looks when his AWPer is m0NESY instead of broky.

m0NESY put up a 36-19 scoreline in the 42-round series, making him the highest rated Falcons player on both maps - though qw1nk1 put up one hell of a fight on the second map and outfragged him. The rifler put up half of K27's opening kills (7/14) and six multikills, and was quite literally the only reason this map dragged on to 24 rounds.

This was, otherwise, a pretty routine win for Falcons, and a positive showing.

PARIVISION and Aurora both fell to underdogs, though the former was probably a bit more troubling.

PARIVISION were quite soundly beaten by 9z, who are by no means nobodies, but a team they should definitely be beating quite comfortably if they want to be a top team. They got an absolute monstering from luchov and dgt, combining for 85 kills - but more importantly, luchov 30-bombed on map one and dgt was one behind on map two.

Quite hard to win when that happens.

Aurora's loss to HEROIC was far more reasonable, though not totally becoming of a contending team. It was two relatively close maps, but letting your former player topfrag against you while your star player goes negative never feels good. xfl0ud must be laughing all the way to the 1-0 bracket.

MOUZ won the only 2-1 of the day over Gentle Mates, and had xertioN to thank for having massive impact on both won maps. xelex's debut saw him narrowly miss out on one of the rounds of the year as he was thwarted in his 1v5 attempt at the last hurdle, despite hitting a glorious headshot on a jumping CT for kill number four.

It would genuinely have been one of the best pistol rounds of all time.

The MongolZ survived a massive scare on Mirage to beat magic 2-0, requiring a 9-3 half just to get OT, and then magic dropping three map points, and then playing for another 45 minutes or so. It ended 25-23 to The MongolZ, but it felt like 55-53.

Spirit smashed The Huns (you'll never guess who dropped 37), G2 annihilated Fisher College (poor CrePoW went 5-31), and FURIA assuaged some fears by demolishing Monte with molodoy going 32-9.
