Falcons win absorbing series over FURIA to go 3-0 - PGL Cluj-Napoca

Falcons stood tall to take down FURIA and cement a 3-0 finish in the group stage.

kyousuke had an unbelievable map two to equalise the score and was only slightly less impressive on map three, with 47 kills on those two maps bringing his series total up to 68. He started out like a house on fire on map two, racking up 21 of those frags on the CT side, albeit with a healthy pinch of statpadding, and continued that through the rest of the series.

Map one was a glorious game of Counter-Strike full of huge moments; FalleN seemed to keep finding multikills to hold the farm together, including one that won a forcebuy to turn the tide on their defence, but it was the AWPs that were finding joy time and time again. m0NESY and molodoy were having a competition between themselves it seemed; m0NESY outfragged molodoy, but molodoy kept having huge impact, and some stunning flicks.

That said, he did get straight outAWPed by kyousuke on a post plant at one point that really should have been a FURIA win. Nobody's perfect.

Map three was another wild map (map two was a complete walkover for Falcons), with molodoy noticeably absent as Falcons ground out a gritty win on Anubis. Neither AWPer really got going in this one, but KSCERATO had his best map of the series and the fact that he lost this map is a tragedy.

They'll be joined unsurprisingly by Vitality, who were as ruthless as ever in victory over MOUZ.

torzsi at times was a one man army in this game, dragging MOUZ into rounds especially on Inferno with an ace and a quad kill looking like huge moments at the time, but amounting to nothing in the end.

No prizes for guessing who topfragged for Vitality.

In the 0-2 games, G2 avoided the ignominy of the first flight home as HeavyGod refused to lose to paiN. In what were two relatively close maps, HeavyGod was the deciding factor in both, but especially on Inferno where he seemed to be everywhere all at once.

He racked up 27 kills in 23 rounds, including eight multikills and a clutch. That's impact.

He wasn't much worse on Mirage, albeit with a lesser kill total but a similar impact on the result; though it should be said that snow went from far and away the best player on paiN in map one to the worst player in the server by some margin on the second.

HEROIC sent 3DMAX home early, which is a very worrying look for the Frenchmen. They were recently a bit of a gatekeeper team, but the hinges seem to have come off and they're letting anyone in now.

FUT put Astralis in the spin cycle with a pretty convincing win over a team who are no mugs these days.

You could pick any FUT player out as the best player in the server, but we thought lauNX was excellent in some tougher positions, and when he plays that well it's just so easy for the stars to get going. HooXi and jabbi combined for just 26 kills over the two maps, which is less than every single FUT member.

That's... not good.

PARIVISION pulled off a miraculous comeback to beat FaZe just as we were starting to believe they might be back. broky was in typical broky form, winning a round with a completely BS clutch on Ancient that involved a luscious one-tap on Jame before dodging bullets like Neo from The Matrix to stop the defuse - but he also missed crucial shots that let PV into rounds they had no right to be in.

His triple miss in Cave was haunting.

PARIVISION were 0-1 and 3-9 down in this game at one point, but forced a decider and Jame just bored the hell out of FaZe on Inferno to steal an unlikely win.

NAVI had makazze to thank for a superb map three performance in a crucial moment to sneak past Aurora in overtime on Inferno. This was a pretty fantastic series - better than we expected - and it did weirdly make us more confident in Aurora than we were before.

Last but not least, The MongolZ needed some heroics from 910 to edge past a tough to beat B8 team who look much better since adding s1zzi. 910 racked up 38 kills on Nuke, with it going to 36 rounds, and a remarkable 77 in the series.
