dziugss on coolio’s impact on FUT's style: "Not just running and shooting"

FUT have been one of CS2’s surprise packages so far this year.
The ex-NAVI Junior core has become a mainstay of tier 1, with their EWC finals last week being the cherry on top so far. While the inexperienced side might have lost that one, they’re on course to be a problem for more than just this year. Especially if they can grow within their unique style.
To figure out more about FUT and their style, we spoke to dziugss at BLAST Open Porto’s media day; here’s what we found out:
First of all, dziugss, I wanna start by asking the easy question we all ask: how are you right now? I can imagine you're tired from the travel.
Yeah, I'm a bit tired, but everything's going fine. We just lost the final. But yeah, I'm proud of the team.
Have you had time to sit down as the team yet and talk about the event, how it went, or has it been so hectic that you just have had to move?
I think after the game, we instantly talked with the team. We always do that. So yeah, we had time.
Could you tell me maybe, have you guys decided that there's some stuff you want to take, like, things you've learned that you wanna take into this event, or is it more so just trying to iterate and keep going?
I think the second option, try to iterate and keep going.
Which actually makes me a little bit curious. You guys made a big change by bringing in xfl0ud. Was there a goal you guys set for yourself when you added him, something you wanted to achieve for the season, or was it trying to see what you could achieve just in general?
I think we were trying to just see what we can achieve with him. We were grinding. We were trying to implement him to the roster.
And about that, obviously you are usually more on the extremities of a map, whereas some of your teammates are more involved at the pack, getting the space. I'm curious, has anything changed for your game? Have you had to maybe adjust what timings you're taking, or has it just been fitting xfl0ud into your system and keeping everything moving the same?
I think I just changed a few positions. I went back to what I was playing before when xfl0ud joined. But other than that, I didn't change my play style or anything, just pretty much the same.
And I'm curious, and pardon my ignorance if you've talked about this before, but you guys have a very unique style, the way you guys play. You guys love to brawl, and I love watching it. Is that something that Krabeni came up with? Is that coolio? Is that them combined?
I think them combined. I think when we first had Krabeni in the team, he really liked to call aggressive things. He liked to do some stuff, and I think this is where András coolio, our coach, he realized this strength of ours, and yeah, we're trying to play with it.

So he bought into your guys' idea? He didn't come to you guys with an idea of how to play, and you guys said, "Okay, we agree." You guys played that way, and he bought into that.
Yeah, I think it was both sides. I think this aggressive style, but also, like, not just running and shooting.
And then you guys have a pretty cool opening matchup against Legacy. You guys both had really good EWC performances. Are you looking forward to that game? What do you think you can expect?
Yeah, I think they're a great team right now. They changed their AWPer, I think. That's all. Their AWPer is looking really strong. Their roster overall is pretty strong, so I don't expect it to be an easy game.
And then for Porto, do you guys have a goal you've set for yourself, playoffs, semifinals? Is there something that you want to achieve here, or is it, again, like we said earlier, just play every game one at a time?
For myself, I would say playoffs. That's my goal, and from there, it's extra.
And then my final question for you really is: for FUT to become a top contender, for you guys to win finals, for you guys to beat Spirit, what do you think we'll have to see change this season? What more can you add?
I think our map pool needs to be improved, let's say. I think we have a few strong maps, and we have a few weak maps. So I think we need to improve on that, and if we improve on that, we can for sure be a trophy contender.
