BLAST Open Rotterdam continuing on the old patch

Despite Valve last night deciding to make a pretty decent-sized change to the reload mechanic, BLAST have made the (sensible) decision to continue with the previous patch for the rest of the tournament.

That they are left to make this decision speaks to the disconnect between the pro scene and Valve, but these decisions are not entirely uncommon.

The pros have been practicing on this patch for a long time and this change may take some getting used to, especially for players who are used to continuously bursting and reloading, of which there are quite a few. It wouldn't really make sense in a competitive discipline to have the pros playing with changes they haven't been able to get used to, and could produce some strange moments and results that don't really fit with such a prestigious event.

While it's a little disappointing to not see how the pros adapt from a selfish point of view, it makes the most sense to continue with the patch they are practiced on.

PGL Bucharest is the next big event, and while there's no official word yet, we would expect that that event would have the newest patch loaded.
