BLAST announces event in Ulaanbaatar

Today, BLAST announced that its BLAST Premier Open event will take place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia between the 10th and 23rd of May, 2027.
This will be the first time the tier 1 circuit has visited the country, which has seen a massive increase in CS fans in recent years. The MongolZ will be to thank for this; their success has captured the hearts and minds of the nation, even earning them special status with the Mongolian government. Because of them, there has been a steady stream of Mongolian fans traveling to international events; now CS will be coming to them.
Thankfully, this isn’t a gimmick TO event utilizing location; we’re getting the full BLAST experience here.
There’ll be a $1.25m prize pool, 16 teams total with invitations for 11 teams based on VRS, and 5 spots going to regional qualifier teams. These qualifiers will have a way in through the open circuit, so if you’re an aspiring pro, keep your eyes peeled for those.
What we don’t know at the moment is what venue this will be at. BLAST have said there will be further information announced in due course.
For the sake of the Mongolian fans, we hope it’s a good one. There is a great love for our game in Mongolia that has only grown, and they deserve a phenomenal event on their home soil. We’re seeing more and more tournaments branching out to new locations for the circuit, with the Singapore Major being a prime example, so it’s a good thing that passionate fans get to benefit from our scenes globetrotting.
We can’t wait to see how this one plays out, and hopefully we get to feel the undoubtedly buzzing atmosphere firsthand.
