Alliance and G2 take last two playoff berths at FISSURE Playground 3
G2 comfortably dispatched the surprise package 5star after the Mongolians made a shock lower bracket run.
After yesterday's win over The MongolZ, 5star started the day with a marquee 2-1 win over Astralis to knock out the famous org and set up a showdown with G2. clouden had been a name we'd not mentioned 'til now, but his showing on map three of the series was worthy of winning it and probably the biggest moment of his career.
He was once again the outstanding player against G2 on map one with nine (!) opening kills, but MATYS was simply not losing Inferno. He dropped a 2 K/D with seven multikills to put the first nail in the coffin. 5star had run them close thanks to all the openings provided by clouden, but he was unable to strike twice as G2 rolled over 5star on Ancient to seal a playoff spot and avoid embarrassment.
G2 had come from behind to knock out 9z earlier in the day in one of the best series of the event, and had their stellar T sides to thank for getting them big enough leads that even their defence couldn't lose.
HeavyGod had a typically solid and reliable series, seemingly finding impact in the toughest spots over and over again.
Alliance pushed past TYLOO in two tight maps before besting magic to fly into playoffs.
TYLOO got to 11 twice but faltered both times thanks to bobeksde, who had a fantastic game on both maps. It might be an unserious name, but he looked a serious player today. Moseyuh, predictably, went from best player in the world to a 4-18 first map today, which sums up his career.
bobeksde was once more impressive versus magic, but the Swedes had eraa to thank as he crushed magic's dreams with an outrageous 22-9 showing on Inferno to lock them out of playoffs, and push Alliance through.
They'll face MIBR, who were handled by a seemingly unstoppable BetBoom, with d1ledez showing up once again to put the Russians straight into the semi-finals. We have no idea what to think. We thought FL4MUS was the ignition, with Magnojez the superstar, but it turns out d1ledez is the omega and the alpha.
That leaves G2 against FURIA, after Legacy won the Brazilian derby to set up a banger quarter-final.
molodoy never really got going, which is so often a death knell for FURIA, and he was mogged pretty hard by try on Mirage as the Argentinian took over the map in the way molodoy often does. That's not to forget latto, who put in a great advertisement for why he should be on FURIA's list if they want to stay Brazilian - and spend lots of money.
He ended the series with almost a 2 K/D, after cutting through FURIA on Mirage and remaining solid on Ancient - but it was arT who stepped up to fill the space on the second map and roll back the years.
KSCERATO, poor KSCERATO, did drop a 2 K/D on Ancient - but his next best teammate went 12-18, as FURIA lost 13-9. Ouch.
