Karmine Corp’s miracle run hits a brick wall: T1 vs. Karmine Corp predictions

Karmine Corp face their greatest challenge so far at Worlds 2026

With Worlds 2026’s Knockout Stage advancing at a blistering pace this week, and we’re already at one of the most exciting matchups of the week with reigning champions T1 set to take on upstart Karmine Corp in a Quarterfinal matchup.

While T1 is of course the favorite, seemingly ahead in everything from fan reaction to talent, Karmine Corp cannot be counted out. The French LEC squad have upset top teams on the international stage before and they’re ready to do it again here. Here’s our preview of T1 vs. Karmine Corp.

Worlds 2026 - KC vs. T1 predictions

Let’s get the obvious out of the way: T1 and Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok are somehow cruising towards potentially a seventh World Championship. It’s an insane figure.

And it’s of course not just Faker that’s the driving force behind this run. It’s Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun, with a chip on his shoulder after a benching earlier this year. It’s Kim "Peyz" Soo-hwan proving he’s as mechanically gifted as any top ADC in the game.

T1 aren’t the teams of yesteryear, with seemingly flawless execution, or mechanical domination. Instead they have this strange narrative swell of ‘inevitability’ behind them. They win, and you can’t stop them. One dropped game to now-eliminated Dplus Kia is hardly a hiccup for a team that spent the last two weeks stomping teams.

Karmine Corp may not be so easy to crush though. The European team has a scrappy and dangerous energy that’s carried it not only through the Play-In stage, but perhaps more surprisingly, past the rest of the European, Brazilian, and NA teams (aside from LYON, technically) to this point.

Caliste "Caliste" Henry-Hennebert occasionally just becomes the best ADC in the world for minutes at a time during games, while Kang "kyeahoo" Yea-hoo and former T1 star Kim "Canna" Chang-dong would likely be causing trouble for T1 in the LCK if not for the free market taking them to the LEC.

We really want to root for KC here, and we’re actually pretty sick of T1 winning Worlds. But it’s hard not to imagine T1 at least advancing here.
