MKOI shocks Karmine Corp in 3-0 sweep in LEC Semifinals

Movistar KOI (MKOI) has defeated Karmine Corp (KC) 3-0 in a sweep of the French org in the LEC Summer 2026 Finals, eliminating KC and propelling themselves into the grand finals.

MKOI soundly defeated KC in a series of defeats that went against the grain of most predictions, with the number one seed, KC, largely seen as the natural finalist during these LEC playoffs. But on Saturday, Sep. 19, MKOI flipped the script, defeating the French side in front of a home-town crowd in Nice, France.

MKOI topples KC in 3-0 sweep

For KC, the first game was definitely their best showing. Kang "kyeahoo" Yea-hoo looked confident on Viktor, while Caliste "Caliste" Henry-Hennebert on Zeri at times looked poised to take over the game. But dominance from Javier "Elyoya" Prades, a jungler who has now made the past six Worlds and earned MVP honors this series brought KC’s downfall.

Game two and KC looked incredibly shaky. Defeats in all four lanes and a flawless Anivia game from Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun spelled defeat for MKOI’s opponents.

By game three, KC was in full free fall. Once again Jojopyun made opposing mid lakers look weak while facing his aggressive style, especially with kyeahoo saddled with mages and struggling.

These past two series have been a showcase of what makes Fearless Draft so daunting in the five-game series, and how teams can be exposed when their champion pool just isn’t deep enough for the longer matchups.

With the victory, MKOI proves yesterday’s defeat of NAVI was no fluke, toppling the number one LEC seed and heading into the Grand Finals tomorrow (Sep. 20) with a confidence that’s very deserved. G2 Esports are a different animal though, and MKOI and their talented roster will have to showcase a level beyond even this decisive stomp to earn victory. Whatever the outcome, we’re likely in for a classic matchup tomorrow.
