The League of Legends development team has posted details of a host of upcoming features in their latest Dev Update. Released on Tuesday, Sep. 9, the update video revealed information about the release of Team Voice, LoL’s in-game voice chat feature, LoL Season 3 Act 2, League Classic, ARAM: Mayhem, Ranked 5s, and other details.

In a day filled with announcements about LoL and its future (with League Next even getting some teasers later in the day), Riot’s dev team showcased how the rest of the year will shape up for the game. Here’s our breakdown:

League of Legends 2026 Season 3 Act 2

League of Legends’ next act will start on Oct. 7 alongside the release of patch 26.20 and will focus on “Music” as per the Dev Update. With musical reveals starting from Sep. 10, exact details aren’t currently known, but they’re expected to focus around revivals of some of LoL’s past musical projects, including Pentakill, the ever-popular KDA, and more.

Team Voice/League Voice Chat

Also releasing in patch 26.20 is LoL’s new voice chat feature, albeit only for North America and Oceania. It’s a quicker release date than many expect, but the devs assured players that they’ve made it with confidence and safety in-mind.

Team Voice will feature noise cancellation, voice modulation, and behavioral tools in-build, and will be restricted to Honor Level 3+ players. Beyond this, Voice Skins will be available to alter player’s voices for enhanced anonymity. The first Voice Skins will reportedly be free but subsequent skins will (of course) be linked to micro transactions.

LoL Classic Update

LoL Classic is getting an update ‘soon’ which will add Demacian champions including Poppy, Galio, Xin Zhao, Fiora, and Shyvana, while teasing that the next update will be Bilgewater-based. The results of the recent council vote will also be implemented soon.

ARAM: Mayhem

ARAM: Mayhem will start soon, with random music acts taking place each time you load into a game. A new in-game achievement mode to give rewards, as well as new augments including new “Bees!” augment that has players throwing beehives at opponents, and “get Jinxed” augment which emulates the classic Jinx rocket-riding.

Ranked 5s

A new update on Ranked 5s revealed that it will receive a Clash-style draft phase as well as having Ranked 5s last longer overall. It’s still not the full “queue with your friends in Ranked” experience many of us hoped for, but its a start.

Overall, there’s a lot of changes coming to LoL soon, and October is going to be a big month for the game.
