LEC Summer Finals 2026 preview: G2 await the eager challengers
It’s been a long season with plenty of twists and turns, but finally, the LEC season will reach its climax this weekend as Europe’s last remaining contenders head to Nice, France for the 2026 Summer Finals.
From Sep 18-20, the Palais Nikaïa will host the finale of the Summer Split with Worlds qualification, Karmine Core’s first title, and more, all at stake. Here’s our preview of the the LEC Summer Finals 2026
The top contenders G2 Esports and Karmine Corp.
Surprising no-one G2 Esports are heading to their third consecutive final this season, attempting to secure their 20th(!) regional title. Helming the eternal EU champs are Rasmus "Caps" Winther, the most recent LoL Esports Hall of Fame inductee and the architect behind 15 of those titles. But G2 have perhaps their stiffest competition ever… if they can make it back for the rematch.
Karmine Corp, KC, were stifled 3-1 in the upper-bracket final against G2 earlier in these playoffs and will now have to survive the lower bracket if they are to get another shot at the title, their first in history, and the crowning achievement to their best ever season.
G2
G2 have been one of the top teams of the 2026 LEC season, and their Summer playoff run has once again put them in a spot to pad that trophy cabinet. .
Their 3-1 victory over Karmine Corp was particularly impressive with G2 controlling the opening two games. Karmine Corp managed to pull one back in Game 3, but ultimately G2's teamfight-oriented composition gave them considerable control around objectives, sending the reigning champs to the finals.
When the pressure is on, G2 is consistent, and that makes them dangerous. And with a Worlds invited secured, confidence will also be on their side.

G2 defeated Karmine Corp in the 2026 LEC Versus grand final, and the two teams also met in the Spring playoffs. Their repeated encounters have made this one of the defining rivalries of the LEC season, and KC has managed to score several wins, including a landmark one in Week 1 of the Summer Split as part of the LEC Road Trip in Paris.
But with a clash against either Movistar KOI or NAVI on the cards, will they be able to keep the momentum up and finally topple G2 in the finals?
Movistar KOI and NAVI have one more chance
Movistar KOI and Natus Vincere are the first teams on the docket this Finals weekend. Bo
MKOI reached this stage after edging Team Vitality 3-2, while NAVI survived a five-game elimination series against GIANTX. These teams have gone through the gauntlet to be here, but their long series are an indication that they’re not decisive, dominant teams, which they’ll have to be to get a win against both each other and KC.
For NAVI, a victory here will be proof that this org belongs to be in the LEC. The org only joined the league in July last year, for the 2025 Summer Split, and hasn’t found much success. A top three finish just a year into their participation is faster progress than any new member to a top-tier league should likely expect.
Meanwhile for MKOI, a win and a top three spot (and a trip to Worlds) will be redemption for what has been several humbling months of LEC action. After losing on home turf to rivals like KC, and struggling within the regular season, a third-place (again, or higher) finish shows that this org is still one of the best in Europe, even if consistency is not their strong point.
A trip to Nice
Nice is perhaps one of the most idyllic spots ever for a LEC finals, giving players the chance to take in the views before thrashing their opponents on the Rift. A distinctly different, and well-presented setting compared to the regular LEC studio environment.
The Palais Nikaïa will host the Summer Finals from September 18-20, while the LEC XPO, a fan-focused event, and an official watch party, will take place at the Jardin Albert-Ier across September 19-20.
