G2 Esports defeats MKOI to win LEC Summer 2026 Finals

G2 Esports has defeated Movistar KOI in a straight 3-0 sweep in the Grand Finals of the LEC 2026 Summer split, in Nice, France.

G2 lifted their 20th European League of Legends trophy by defeating MKOI in a dominant display on Sunday, Sep. 20. Ending the upstart Spanish org’s miracle run from sixth place in the regular season to second in the Playoffs, G2 and Hall of Legends mid laner Rasmus "Caps" Winther lifted yet another championship, confirming another year of dominance in the LEC.

In a series that really showed how far ahead of the competition G2 really are, MKOI never got started. Three 30-minute stomps confirmed the dominance of best team in Europe on the biggest regional stage.

While G2’s Caps, of course, put on a clinic, it was the team’s support, Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis who put on a real show, with aggressive, harassing play from Champion picks like Lux and Lulu meaning MKOI’s talented bot lane really could take part in the series.

With the victory, G2 earns their record 20th EU LoL Esports title. For caps, it marks the 18th trophy he’s lifted in the region.

Now EU and the LEC contestants must look towards Worlds 2026, across the Atlantic in the US, which now seems dramatically closer. With just the last few contestants to be decided, and EU’s strongest teams now tempered in the regional forge, their biggest challenge still awaits. Was this dominant display a sign of things to come at Worlds? Or just a regional clash that won’t affect the wider scene.
