G2 Esports has successfully defeated T1, eliminating the Worlds 2025 champions from MSI in decisive fashion. The LEC team were able to hold their LCK opponents at bay in a 3-1 victory that saw top-laner Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik rightfully earn MVP honors with an iconic performance.

With the victory, G2 eliminate T1, and avenge a 2-0 loss to the team all the way back at the Esports World Cup 2025, the last time these teams met in non-showmatch competition. The win propels G2 into the Lower-Bracket to face fellow Western team, North America’s LYON.

G2 score a 3-1 victory to eliminate Faker and T1 from MSI 2026

In what was one of the strongest performances by G2 this tournament, the LEC team defeated T1 in a compelling 3-1 series. Kicking things off strong, Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther flexed an unorthodox Anivia pick into Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok’s Cassiopeia selection to great success, securing game one for G2.

However, from game two onwards, the focus was all on BrokeBlade in the toplane, and his systematic destruction of T1’s Choi "Doran" Hyeon-jun. His flawless performance on Cho’Gath sent a definitive message to his opposition.

Game three saw T1 finally gain some momentum, pushing back thanks to a fantastic performance from Kim "Peyz" Soo-hwan, whose been a stand-out player for the LCK side this tournament. But as game four rolled around it was back to the BrokenBlade show, as his Kled pick dominated Top, Jungle, Mid, and Bot in similar fashion.

With the victory, G2 advance to Round 3 of the competition, with T1 crashing out. G2 will face LYON tomorrow, who defeated Vietnam’s Team Secret Whales to lock in their spot one step closer to the finals on July 12.

G2 and T1 may not have to wait another year to meet again, however. Both teams have tickets booked to Paris, and will compete at the Esports World Cup 2026 next week.
