ViCi Gaming to attend Esports World Cup 2026 after ESL Challenger China victory
ESL Challenger China Season 3 x ACL 2026 was an offline event that served as qualifiers for Esports World Cup 2026. The entire event took place from May 1-3rd with eight teams competing to claim the first place spot that grants access to the event, as well as the largest slice of the $172,000 prize pool.
Coming into the event, the spotlight leaned heavily toward favorites like Xtreme Gaming, who were already qualified for a slot through their accumulated EPT points earned through the season.
But the competitive deck was stacked with other teams marked as threats such as Team Refuser, ViCi Gaming, Yakult Brothers, and the veteran-stacked Team Resilience—a lineup packed with decorated names in YSR-04E, echo, niu, planet, and zzq.
Early on, that expectation held. Xtreme Gaming seemed to come in strong. Team Resilience looked untouchable, tearing through the bracket without dropping a single series, including a decisive 2:0 sweep over ViCi Gaming in the upper bracket semifinals which sent ViCi Gaming spiraling into the lower bracket… where their real run began.
What followed was an incredible comeback and turn of events. ViCi survived elimination matches against Roar and Yakult Brothers before taking down Xtreme Gaming 2:1 in the lower bracket finals— sending them then into grand finals into a rematch with Team Resilience.
While Team Resilience entered the grand finals undefeated, polished, and in control, ViCi arrived battle-worn, sharper with every series. And then, in a complete reversal of their earlier meeting, ViCi flipped the narrative—outplaying and dismantling Team Resilience 3:1 to claim the championship title.
The victory secured ViCi Gaming $90,000 and, more importantly, a coveted spot at the Esports World Cup 2026, where they’ll join 24 global contenders—including defending champions Team Spirit for a chunk of the $2,000,000 prize in July.
Six teams have already racked up enough points to secure their place. With DreamLeague Season 29 looming and teams like Nigma and South America Rejects fighting for qualification points, the road to EWC is tightening.
