Dota 2 meets Monster Hunter: The crossover you didn’t know you needed
In one of the year's most unexpected gaming crossovers, Valve and Capcom have joined forces to bring the world of Monster Hunter into the Dota 2 universe.
Dota 2 x Monster Hunter crossover brings a wave of new content, including themed item sets, pets, and a brand-new crafting system. The update marks the first in-game event since Crownfall concluded and introduces six Monster Hunter-themed armor sets, each with three craftable alternate versions. Among the highlights is the Rathalos Armor for Dragon Knight, effectively turning the hero into the iconic Rathalos from Monster Hunter.
Monster Hunter themed sets:
- Sniper: Odogaron Armor
- Techies: Palico Disguise Bomb Unit
- Anti-Mage: Kirin Armor
- Dragon Knight: Rathalos Armor
- Beastmaster: Bone Armor
- Windranger: Zinogre Armor
Players can also claim a free Palico courier immediately and work to unlock the new base pet, Poogie, both of which have their own craftable variations.
Free Hunters' Bounty: How to claim your loot
All core versions of the hero sets can be earned for free by gathering materials through hero hunts, a new gameplay loop inspired by Monster Hunter’s core mechanics. Players can track their progress using the new Hero Atlas, which also offers lore insights. You can gather the crafting materials for the alternate versions of the six core item sets by simply playing the game.
The Expedition Pack: Premium hunter gear
For those seeking more premium content, an Expedition Pack is available for purchase at €13.29. This pack includes exclusive cosmetics not available through the free track:
- Monster transformations, Rathalos for Dragon Knight and Bullfango for Beastmaster.
- Monster Hunter music pack and seasonal spray collection.
- A bundle of crafting materials to kickstart the grind.
- Exclusive variants for Poogie, Palico, and hero sets with custom ambient and Immortal effects.
The Dota 2 x Monster Hunter crossover event will run for the next three months, until February 6, 2026. As the official announcement from Valve puts it: “It's open season on the world's most dangerous heroes.” Whether you're a seasoned hunter or a Dota veteran, there’s never been a better time to jump in.
