OG heads to SEA; Signs Team Aureus ahead of PGL Wallachia Season 6
After a string of disappointments and letdowns, OG has shifted its focus to a new region — SEA.
It was only two weeks ago that the organisation dropped their current Dota 2 roster after a failure in five different qualifiers: DreamLeague Season 27, BLAST Slam IV & V, FISSURE Playground 2, and PGL Wallachia Season 6, and then closing out DreamLeague Division 2 Season 1 with a 9-12th place finish. The release of the roster came only one week after the organisation announced the end of its collaboration with the South American Dota 2 roster. The decision was made following a trial period during regional qualifiers.
But OG fans didn't have to wait long for them to come back online.
With a short video praising the Philippines as the “heartbeat of Dota 2 in Southeast Asia,” OG announced the signing of the Team Aureus stack.
Team Aureus competed in BLAST Slam IV, finishing in 7–8th place, and has already been invited to participate in BLAST Slam V at the end of November while also qualifying for PGL Wallachia Season 6. That already guarantees the two-time, back-to-back TI-winning organisation a stronger competitive footing — and some long-awaited LAN presence this season.
PGL Wallachia Season 6 takes place November 15–23 in Bucharest, with 16 teams competing for a share of the $1,000,000 prize pool. BLAST Slam V kicks off online on November 25 and concludes December 7 in Chengdu, China.
OG already holds a strong fan base in the Philippines and a growing regional footprint with teams in Honor of Kings and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang — the latter in partnership with the Selangor Football Club. With a revitalized SEA lineup and a foothold in one of Dota’s most passionate regions, OG’s new chapter might just be the comeback story fans have been waiting for.
