LGD and Yandex reach top three at PGL Wallachia Season 9
PGL Wallachia Season 9 is the first LAN of the 2026-27 competitive season. Despite missing several big names, many of whom didn't have their rosters locked in time, it still offers an exciting first look at some of the reshuffled teams.
Some of the most interesting storylines revolve around LGD Gaming's new international lineup and the duels between former Team Falcons members who landed with different organisations. Jingjun "Sneyking" Wu is now playing under the LGD banner, Oliver "skiter" Lepko is at Aurora Gaming, and Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf is at Yandex. It's no coincidence that all three teams reached the upper bracket quarterfinals, fighting for a guaranteed top-three finish.
LGD Gaming 2-0 Xtreme Gaming
LGD Gaming entered PGL Wallachia Season 9 as one of the most intriguing rosters of the new season. The Chinese organisation had completely rebuilt after parting ways with the TI 2026 South American line-up and wasted no time justifying the hype around their new team.
The upper bracket semifinals pitted them against the Chinese juggernaut Xtreme Gaming, who are still a fully-fledged Chinese team, though with slight adjustments. LGD opened the series with a carry Sven for Máximo "Wits" Orozco Alza, who was a menace from start to finish. While he closed the game with just one death to his name, XG's Wang "Ame" Chunyu, on Drow Ranger, struggled throughout, finishing with just 1 kill and 6 deaths.
Game two brought a true stomp from LGD as SumaiL delivered a masterclass performance on Void Spirit, while Wits' Windranger was flawless with a 16/0/13 KDA. Xtreme Gaming never found their footing. Ame got to play Phantom Lancer but found just five kills and couldn't carry against LGD's relentless pressure.
Aurora Gaming 1-2 Team Yandex
The series opened as a showcase for skiter on Ursa. However, game one was followed by two stomps from Yandex, who brought a carry Naga Siren and a mid lane Io to tie the series in 25 minutes, and simply ran over Aurora in just 18 minutes in game three with a signature Invoker for Ilya "CHIRA_JUNIOR" Chirtsov.
PGL Wallachia Season 9 will resume on Saturday, September 26, with three elimination matches in the lower bracket and the upper bracket final, LGD vs Yandex.
