Get rdy: Competitive guide for May 25-31st

A new week is upon us and that means events and competitive matches will be gearing up or winding down. With this season's packed schedule it is easy to miss something, so we've compiled a weekly planning guide to keep track of what is going on.

League of Legends

LCS and LEC

The LEC and LCS Playoffs kicked off this past weekend, with teams already close to crashing out of the double elimination bracket. While Sentinels, G2 Esports, and Karmine Corp have already booked tickets to EWC, they’re battling for perhaps the more important prize: A spot at MSI

LCK

The final week of Round 1-2 of the LCK's regular season will take place this week, with BRION, FEARX, and DRX battling for the final spot in the Road to MSI. But there’s no easy path for any of these teams as they’ll face Gen.G, T1, and Dplus respectively.

LPL

The LPL's Knights Rivals bracket wrapped up this week with only one of the Group Nirvana hopefuls managing to best the top-tier Group Ascend opponents - Thunder Talk who managed to topple Invictus Gaming in a dominant 3-0 showing. This week they’ll face JD Gaming in the Knockout Stage with just two spots for MSI up for grabs.

EWC and MSI

Speaking of which, two of the three major international tournaments of the season are almost upon us and with the move to Paris, the dynamic of one event, the Esports World Cup has dramatically changed. Now, squads like Vitality and Karmine Corp are likely to have feverish fans behind them: A complete shift from previous years.

Counter-Strike 2

When you sign a deal with the devil, always check the fine print.

karrigan thought he could waltz into the Falcons superteam and just start winning trophies, and if the world made any sense he probably would. This is a team with one of the best riflers ever, one of the hottest prospects in the world and arguably the second best AWPer, maybe even with the potential to be the best.

And yet, their first final vs Legacy - a team who aren't exactly the best team in the world - saw old demons rear their heads as Falcons choked yet again. Forget karrigan, NiKo needs Dr Henry Heimlich as his IGL. Between him and karrigan, they were never going to outshoot anyone.

Tick tock.

Stake Ranked Episode 2

Meanwhile there is just one A tier event going on this week. Stake Ranked 2 starts in Barcelona tomorrow, May 27th featuring eight teams fighting for $100,000. It is only a few days, ending on the 30th so if you blink, you might miss it.

Dota 2

BLAST Slam VII

BLAST Slam VII will feature twelve teams from around the globe. Eight of these teams received direct invites to the event, while four progressed through regional qualifiers to find their spot. Two spots were made available to Europe and one to Southeast Asia through the RES Unchained 4 qualifiers. While China had a single spot through their own qualifiers.

The event will take place at the BLAST studios in Copenhagen, Denmark from May 16th-June 7th. No doubt Tundra will be looking to reclaim their BLAST legacy as Team Liquid will be on hand to defend the title from them.

Qualifiers

Open qualifiers for six regions (North America, South America, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Southeast Asia, China, and Middle Eastern/Southwest Africa) will begin on May 29th. There are two sets of open qualifiers per region with typically one team per each qualifier per region advancing to the closed qualifiers.

Esports World Cup 2026 serves as the final championship of the fourth season of the ESL Pro Tour. A whopping 24 teams will be on hand to compete for the largest slice of the $2 million prize pool in July. It was originally planned to be hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but was moved to Paris, France.

Regional Affairs

Local and regional fans have some treats on the menu this week.

China

The Immortal Cup 2 is a DOTA2 tournament featuring retired professional players who were once active in the Chinese region, as well as current pro players taking a break from competition. Four teams featuring ten players will compete through June 7th for the largest slice of the $117,476 USD prize.

Southeast Asia

Lunar Horse Trophy 7 began on Saturday, May 9th and will continue through the 29th. It features 10 regional teams competing online for $15,000.
