TI 2026 darlings take a big hit in Dota 2 patch 7.41f

Dota 2 latest gameplay update, 7.41f brings much welcomed nerfs to the most popular heroes of TI 2026 and addresses the late game power spikes.

From increased recipe costs for damage dealers to significant nerfs to Treant Protector, Earth Spirit, Invoker and Hoodwink, the patch tries to balance the early-game tempo and late-game scaling, targeting heroes and items that have dominated both professional and pub play.

Item changes

IceFrog is targeting the late game carries the most with 7.41f as several high tier items have their recipe costs rise.

  • Daedalus: Recipe cost up from 900 to 1000. Total cost is now 5200g.
  • Dragon Lance: Recipe cost up from 450 to 550. Total cost is now 2000g. This also affects Hurricane Pike (now 4550g) and Hydra's Breath (recipe cost down, but total remains 5900g).
  • Heart of Tarrasque: Recipe cost up from 700 to 800. Total cost is now 5300g.
  • Octarine Core: Recipe cost up from 200 to 400. Total cost is now 5100g.

Lifesteal and sustain take a hit

The regen and lifesteal nerfs are broad enough to change how safe the early-to-mid game feels. Infused Raindrops mana regen got nerfed from +0.8 to +0.6, and Essence Distiller from +1.75 to +1.5. Mask of Madness and Satanic both received nerfs to their lifesteal percentages, with creep lifesteal specifically taking a hit.

  • Battle Fury: Chop Tree cooldown decreased from 4s to 3s (a minor quality-of-life buff for junglers).
  • Heaven's Halberd: Recipe cost decreased, bringing the total cost down to 3300g.
  • Manta Style: Ranged Illusion damage decreased from 28% to 25%.
  • Shiva's Guard: Arctic Blast damage decreased from 260 to 225.
  • Silver Edge: Shadow Walk cooldown increased and bonus movement speed reduced.

Hero nerfs

Almost all the popular heroes, from the most picked to the most contested ones at The International 2026, received direct nerfs this patch. From Mirana, and Treant Protector to Kez and Earth Spirit, the 7.41f gameplay update addresses the lane dominators.

Earth Spirit received a series of adjustments that primarily target his late-game scaling and talent tree. Base Attack Speed has been reduced from 100 to 95, and his Stone Remnant charges now scale slower, gaining one charge per 5 levels instead of per 4. More notably, his Level 20 and 25 talents have been shuffled: the Magnetize damage talent now grants flat damage per second instead of a percentage boost, and the Rolling Boulder damage from Strength has been moved to Level 25, replacing the Geomagnetic Grip Remnant damage talent.

Bounty Hunter is also one of the standout losers of this patch. While a bug fix ensures Big Game Hunter actually grants gold, the hero's primary utility, Track, has been hit hard.

  • Track: Self bonus gold reduced to 80/160/240 (from 130/225/320).
  • Track: Allies bonus gold reduced to 40/80/120.
  • Level 10 Shuriken Toss slow got nerfed, and the Level 20/25 talents have been swapped, moving the Track Shared Vision to Level 25.

Treant Protector, who was picked or banned in all 148 games at The International 2026, just got a lot less oppressive. Base intelligence got dropped three points to 17, Leech Seed, which was free mana spell, now costs 35 mana, Living Armor's minimum damage block got cut in half, from 20 to 10, and Nature's Guise invisibility now lingers for only 1s after leaving trees. Leech Seed's damage-to-healing conversion got rescaled from a flat 20% to 10/15/20/25%, while the level 10 heal-per-second talent got replaced with +3s Living Armor duration.

Other hero nerfs

  • Centaur Warrunner: Base damage reduced by 2 and movement speed reduced from 300 to 295.
  • Invoker: Cold Snap cooldown increased to 19s. Ghost Walk Aghanim's Shard no longer damages non-heroes.
  • Lina: Base Intelligence decreased to 28, and Fiery Soul bonuses (attack speed and duration) have been reduced.
  • Shadow Fiend: Necromastery damage per soul scaling has been changed, resulting in a slight nerf to late-game damage. Shadowraze bonus damage per soul decreased from 3 to 2.
  • Winter Wyvern: Arctic Burn cooldown increased, and Cold Embrace early-level healing is reduced.

Hero buffs

Not everyone is suffering in the 7.41f balance patch. Some heroes received minor boosts or adjustments to their kit. Anti-Mage is the standout in this category, Mana Break now converting 65% of burned mana into damage, up from 60%.

  • Chen: Strength gain increased to 2.2.
  • Huskar: Strength gain increased to 3.4 (though base strength was lowered).
  • Mars: Base Armor increased by 1.
  • Ursa: Maul Health as Damage increased from 1.25% to 1.75%.
  • Warlock: Base Attack Speed increased from 90 to 95.Largo: Island Elixir heal rescaled (better at level 3, worse at level 1).

Whether this is enough to dethrone the current hot meta choices and tone down the late game meta remains to be seen. Expect the professional scene to adapt quickly, and expect a few dark horses to emerge in the weeks ahead. The first tier-one tournament to be played on the 7.41 patch is PGL Wallachia Season 9, set to begin this coming Saturday, September 19, 2026.
