Xtreme Gaming TI 2025 team profile: Friends in need are friends indeed
The uncrowned prince is once again setting sights on the Aegis of Champions.
Patches, teams, rosters, formats, even the fans’ allegiances change from one TI to another, but if there is one thing that remains constant, that’s the community’s wish to see Wang "Ame" Chunyu finally winning The International.
The uncrowned prince
Ame is dubbed by the Dota 2 fans as “the uncrowned prince”. He is one of the few players in the upper echelon of Dota 2 professionals who is yet to see his name engraved on the Aegis. He played two TI finals in his career, reached the top 4 a couple of times as well, and overall, TI 2025 will mark his seventh attempt at taking home the most wanted Dota 2 trophy.
It will also be the second time in a row when he tries to win it all under the Xtreme banner. Last year, the team placed “just” top 6 and a month after TI and another subpar performance at DreamLeague Season 24, the first tournament of the new season, Ame tried to find success elsewhere. It went from bad to worse, and in March 2025, he returned to Xtreme.

The season leading up to TI 2025 was far from being great for Xtreme, up to the point where they had to play qualifiers for the event, as their regional foes, Tidebound, had done slightly better and were granted a direct invite. Xtreme’s best placement this year was a top 3 at Clavision Masters 2025: Snow-Ruyi, the last LAN tournament before The International 2025.
Interestingly enough, they reached the top 3 with two stand-ins. One of them will continue to play for Xtreme at TI 2025 as well, and it’s none other than Yap "xNova" Jian We, who has reached the TI8 grand finals alongside Ame. The two are reuniting and will be playing the safe lane together after five years.
Xtreme Gaming roster
- Wang "Ame" Chunyu
- Guo "Xm" Hongcheng
- Lin "Xxs" Jing
- Zhao "XinQ" Zixing
- Yap "xNova" Jian Wei
- Coach: Zhang "xiao8" Ning
Five years might sound like a lot, but given their chemistry built back in the LGD days, the reunion now might be exactly the boost Xtreme needs to make a splash at TI 2025. On top of that, they are also heading to Hamburg, Germany, with the legendary coach xiao8, the same coach who helped LGD reach the two TI grand finals in 2018 and 2021.
So, all in all, having to undergo a roster change just before TI should be only beneficial for Xtreme, who are now heading to the most important tournament of the year with seasoned veterans who have a shared history.
Meta picks and mayhem
Although he hasn’t played with Xtreme until now, xNova’s hero pool overlaps almost perfectly with Wilson "poloson" Koh’s, who was forced to sit out due to tenosynovitis. xNova’s most played heroes this year are still hot meta picks and are already a part of Xtreme’s drafts. Clockwerk, Warlock, Elder Titan and Pugna are among the most played position 5 heroes by both players. At the same time, the current meta is still allowing Ame to play his all-time favourites and best heroes, such as Terrorblade, Gyrocopter, or even Sven.
Besides having Ame and xNova reunited, Xtreme also hold another ace in their sleeve, namely XinQ. Although he toned it down a notch this season, XinQ is an atypical position 4, who enjoys playing unusual heroes for his role. Along with PARIVISION’s Edgar "9Class" Naltakian, XinQ is one of the most creative support players and will not shy away from playing a position 4 Slark or Riki, or terrorise the enemy team with a Monkey King stationed in their base hunting for couriers. He is also one of the best Techies players in the professional scene, and if Xtreme and PARIVISION reach the playoffs or get to play against each other at The International 2025, then you must prepare for a true spectacle.
Despite not having a great year so far, Xtreme have the potential to deliver a huge surprise in Hamburg and place CN Dota back on the map.
The International 2025 will kick off on the 4th of September, with 16 teams aligned in a Swiss group stage. The top three teams will head to the playoffs, the bottom three will be eliminated. The teams in the middle of the pack will duke it out in an elimination round. The playoffs will unfold September 11-14 in the Barclays Arena with eight teams fighting for a shot at the Aegis of Champions. Until then, rdy.gg will bring you all the information that you need about the pinnacle event of the year and the teams competing for the most wanted trophy in the Dota 2 scene, so stay tuned!
