Xtreme Gaming set their sights on the Aegis of Champions
As The International 2025 draws closer, the regional qualifiers continue, with Xtreme Gaming securing the Chinese spot for the event.
China’s hopes for a return to the pinnacle of Dota 2 at The International 2025 will rely on only two teams. With All Gamers Global (previously Team Tidebound) claiming a direct invite, the remaining CN teams would need to fight it out in the regional qualifiers for the last remaining spot. With the likes of Azure Ray and Vici Gaming falling along the way, the grand finals featured two teams we had seen often throughout the year, Xtreme Gaming and Yakult Brothers.
Xtreme Gaming march through to The International 2025 qualifiers
XG had a fantastic run through the CN qualifiers for TI 2025. Taking down both VG and AR along the way to the upper bracket finals, the squad had no problems with their opponents. Their path to the grand finals took them against Yakult Brothers, a team that they had faced on multiple occasions. Most recently was the Asian Champions League 2025, where XG managed to secure their spot at the Esports World Cup.
After securing their spot in the grand finals of the CN qualifier, XG awaited their opponent, which would be Yakult once again. The series kicked off with meticulous play from XG. A steady game one, where they took control from their opponents and drew out the GG, was followed by a far more chaotic game two. When it seemed as though Yakult could tie things up as they accrued a massive net worth lead, XG shut the door and secured a 2-0 series lead.

With series point and the shining light of TI 2025 in their sights, XG went into what would be the final game in a best-of-five series. With Guo “Xm” Hongcheng picking up Slardar and going mid-lane, he quickly became a near-unkillable monster. Once XG gained control of the early game, Yakult could no longer take them on in any fights. The GG call came out after only 28 minutes, as XG swept away everyone in their path.
The win means that Xtreme Gaming join AGG at TI 2025, alongside every other qualified and invited team so far. With their spot at The International now locked in, XG will get a short break before heading to PGL Wallachia Season 5 and EWC 2025 a few weeks on.
