Having recently qualified for DreamLeague Season 27, Wildcard has released their roster, who now return as Apex Genesis.
As the post-TI roster shuffle continues to shock, Wildcard is the next team on the chopping block. Having formed in early 2025 under the Wildcard banner, the team performed well in the North American region. Unfortunately, even victories in qualifiers and a first-time appearance at The International 2025 for many of the players was not enough to save the team from exiting the organisation.
Apex Genesis returns
All the way back in January 2025, Wildcard announced their re-introduction into the Dota 2 professional sphere. Having remained dormant for the entirety of 2024, the organisation announced that they would be picking up the Apex Genesis roster. Although the team did not manage to reach any significantly high tier 1 tournament placings, their biggest achievement came during the qualifiers for TI 2025.
With a stunning victory over Shopify Rebellion, Wildcard secured themselves a spot at the prestigious event. Not only that, but the team were able to make it through the initial Group Stage, before they were toppled over by PARIVISION in the elimination round. Even so, the 9th-13th placing was considered great, as they left the tournament alongside the likes of Team Liquid and Team Spirit.
Although the team has still been hard at work, recently qualifying for DreamLeague Season 27, they have now been released by Wildcard.

In a post via X, Maggie “stresspresso” Hogie, team manager for Apex Genesis, had the following to say,
Was fun while it lasted, thanks for the support Wildcard! We say together as a team and are currently looking for a new home
While the team stays together, they have reverted back to their previous organisation, Apex Genesis. However, with that said, they recently lost their couch, Ionut “BliNcc” Musat, who decided to retire in recent weeks, focusing on his streaming in the future.
At the current time of writing, there is no news on whether the Wildcard organisation will disappear for another year or if they will try to rebuild a new Dota 2 roster. For Apex Genesis, they will be looking ahead to PGL Wallachia Season 6 and DL Season 27 as they look to keep the hopes and dreams of NA Dota 2 alive.
