Virtus.pro exit EWC without a single victory earned

Virtus.pro’s Esports World Cup comes to an end, as the team records zero victories over their short tournament spell.
Eliminations were on the cards at the Esports World Cup 2025 today, with four teams waving goodbye to their tournament hopes. Execration was first to exit, as Xtreme Gaming swept through them, before Shopify Rebellion and HEROIC met the same fate at the hands of Team Yandex and Talon Esports, respectively. The final elimination for Round 1 of the elimination phase would be either Virtus.pro or Team Falcons.
Virtus.pro crash out of EWC 2025
Qualifying for the EWC was a huge feat for VP, as they made it past the likes of Nigma Galaxy and Team Secret in the MESWA Qualifier. However, once they reached the event, even in one of the weaker groups, they were unable to find a single victory during the Group Stage. Finishing last in their group did not mean elimination, but with round 1 of the next phase, they needed to take down Falcons to have a hope.
Unfortunately, matching the rest of the series of the day, it was a swift 2-0 defeat for VP. Falcons were able to brush their opponents aside in under an hour in total between the 2 games, never allowing VP to ever reach double digits on the scoreboard. Following their string of extremely poor results for much of 2025, VP heads back to the drawing board, as one of the first four teams eliminated from the EWC.

For Falcons, although they had seen some poor results through the year too, they now have a chance to reach the top 8 of the EWC. The second round of the elimination phase sees them take on Natus Vincere, which will not be an easy task. However, both teams will have the entire last day of the elimination phase to prepare, as they take to the final series before the playoffs.
With playoffs now looming on the horizon, only a few series stand in the way of the remaining teams and the top 8 at the EWC.
