Outclassed and overun: Team Liquid's EWC dreams are crushed

Team Falcons claim the final spot in the Esports World Cup 2025 semi-finals, as they send Team Liquid packing.

With the quarterfinals of the Esports World Cup 2025, we had already seen three teams lock into the top 4. Only one spot remained, with Team Falcons and Team Liquid being the final two teams to fight. With the last spot in the semifinals to play for, these two teams gave it all, as they looked to join Team Spirit, PARIVISION, and Tundra Esports in the top 4 of the Esports World Cup 2025.

Team Liquid crumbles at the hands of Team Falcons

Game one was just brutal, with Falcons destroying Liquid throughout the game. From start to finish, Liquid’s very weak draft, involving a Windrunner and Ember Spirit, was on the back foot. On the other side, Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak’s Primal Beast was a pure monster, ripping through the Liquid lineup at every turn.

Game two did not look any better, with a 0-6 opening 6 minutes for the bottom lane duo of Aydin “Insania” Sarkohi’s Warlock and Michael “MiCKe” Vu’s Templar Assassin. It seemed as though Liquid was simply crumbling, as they were being picked off in every lane. While finding a few pick-offs here and there, it was nowhere near enough to keep up with Falcon’s dominance.

It did not take long before Liquid threw in the towel, losing 0-2 after a terrible playoffs’ performance. The team, having nearly gone perfect through the Group Stage, never made a dent in their opponent’s drafts, and would have their key crushed as they exited the EWC.

For Falcons they produced a fantastic performance when it mattered, avenging their elimination from Liquid at the Riyadh Masters 2024. They now move on to face Tundra Esports in the second semi-final on July 18th, with Team Spirit and PARIVISION going head-to-head in the first earlier in the day.
