Three teams got their TI2025 dream cut short as the Swiss group stage reached the fifth round.

After Team Nemesis bowed out winless on Friday, the whole region’s hopes laid on BOOM Esports to make a comeback and make it past the group. However, the fifth round in the Swiss system pitted BOOM against Wildcard, the only North American team at TI this year and the team whose only victories so far in the tournament are against SEA representatives.

Despite starting the series with a demoralising first game where they could land only four kills in 28 minutes, Wildcard adjusted quickly to reverse sweep BOOM and move forward to the elimination round.

Nigma Galaxy eliminate NAVI

Along with BOOM, Natus Vincere have also ended their TI2025 journey after getting outdrafted and outplayed by Nigma Galaxy. Much like Wildcard, Nigma had to pull out a reverse sweep to stay alive in the tournament. They’ve done so with another Lone Druid trick from Daniel "Ghost" Chan who took the spotlight on the opening day in Hamburg when he singly handled BetBoom Team’s throne with his Bear.

After he evened the series against NAVI, Ghost was forced to a new pick. While his LD got banned, Ghost went for Troll Warlord, who, in a late game scenario, can hit just as hard and as safely as the Bear if needed. He closed game three deathless to keep the hopes alive for Nigma Galaxy.

One more team will bow out of the competition by the end of this Saturday’s matches, as the first battle in the elimination round is scheduled to commence at around 19:00 CEST.
