HEROIC crumble at the Esports World Cup

Eliminations were on the board today at the Esports World Cup as the Dota 2 tournament saw another team drop from the standings.
Talon Esports and HEROIC were on the chopping block at the Esports World Cup, as both teams looked to survive the first day of the elimination phase. Having finished third in Group D, HEROIC was forced into the first round of the elimination phase, losing a tiebreaker to PARIVISION. For Talon, their fourth place in Group A came on the back of two drawn series and a loss to Team Spirit.

While the first game between these two teams was quite a close affair, HEROIC almost seemed to give up in game two. Although the first game seemed very one-sided, with Talon having a huge net worth lead at the end, it was quite close. With HEROIC managing to bring down a tier 3 tower early on, it was nothing that they could build on. Eventually, Talon marched over them to take the first game.
In the second game, HEROIC barely put up a fight, never really contesting Talon. Completely outplayed at every turn, the South American roster crumbled, leaving Talon to easily sweep a 2-0 win. With that, HEROIC was eliminated from the EWC after making it to the tiebreakers and finishing in a higher group position than Talon.
Talon’s win takes them into the second round of the elimination phase, where they will have an even bigger challenge awaiting them. Tundra Esports stands in the way of the Southeast Asians and their chances of getting into the playoffs. The two will meet in a massive clash on July 13th, as more teams fall by the wayside.
