Yandex and Tundra are one series away from elimination after Day 2 at PGL Wallachia

Elimination day at PGL Wallachia Season 8 promises fireworks, with two of the tournament's biggest names fighting for survival.

Team Yandex, the defending champions in the Wallachia series, and Tundra Esports, the recent ESL One Birmingham 2026 champions, are both sitting on 0-2 series records after South America Rejects (SAR) and Virtus.pro delivered the upsets on Day 2 of PGL Wallachia Season 8.

SAR were first to set off the firecrackers with a commendable 2-0 victory over Yandex. They’ve taken the series with a carry Radiance Necrophos build in game one, something you hate to see in your pubs, but also something that’s so rarely done in competitive matches that it works almost every time.

Lose lanes, win game

South America Rejects lost all three lanes as almost everyone was looking to hit the 15-minute mark with a teamfight-oriented item in their inventory. For Máximo "Wits" Orozco Alza, it was a 12-minute Radiance, for the mid lane Kunkka was BkB, while the offlane Slardar, all that was needed was a Blink Dagger to start pressuring Yandex. Both SAR supports went for a Force Staff first item for better team fight positioning, which proved pivotal. Despite getting team wiped about 20 minutes into the game, a BkB on Slardar and Consecrated Wraps on Necrophos fixed the issue, and Yandex lost all their advantage and the first game.

Game two was a different story, with SAR staying aggressive from the early laning stage courtesy of strong duos in the side lanes, Tiny-Enchantress top and Beastmaster-Hoodwink bot. By the 20-minute mark, they were already looking at a nearly 10k gold advantage and managed to keep the ball rolling to force the defending champions to play for survival in the next series.

While SAR are moving to the 1-1 series for Day 3, Yandex will play against NAVI in the elimination round.

Tundra are also set for a battle for survival after losing 1-2 to Virtus.pro on Day 2. They got outpaced, and outplayed in game one by an Alchemist draft coming from VP and a picture-perfect Void Spirit performance from Abed "Abed" Yusop, who finished with a 14/0/8 KDA against Bozhidar "bzm" Bogdanov’s signature Ember Spirit.

bzm bounced back in game two with another staple hero of his, namely Invoker, but heading to game three, Tundra got outmanoeuvred, especially in the late game, by an Enzo "Timado" Gianoli carry Windranger and another Void Spirit from Abed.

PGL Wallachia Day 3 schedule
