Vici Gaming return, bringing a strong contender forward for Chinese Dota 2
Vici Gaming return to competitive Dota 2 with a brand-new roster, after disappearing from the scene for a few years.
Vici Gaming were once one of the top teams in Dota 2. When Chinese Dota 2 was in its heyday, VG were up there with the likes of Newbee and LGD. However, back in 2023, after constant struggles over a few seasons, the team disbanded, and the name disappeared into history. However, during the Chinese Open Qualifiers for The International 2025, VG returned with a roster. While they did not make it, it was the first sign of their return. Now, with the Post TI-roster shuffle ongoing, a completely new roster is revealed for the new season.

In a post made via the organisations Weibo account, VG announced their return. After a two-year hiatus, a new team forms under the banner, already with high hopes in 2025. While the team is very different from their attempted TI 2025 qualifier roster, it does keep the position 5 support player Ding “Dy” Cong on board.
The new VG roster is:
- Lou “Lou” Zhen
- Guo “Xm” Hongcheng
- Chung Wei “Ws” Shen
- Xiong “Pyw” Jiahan
- Ding “Dy” Cong
- Coach: Wang “Maps” Yutian
With Xm parting ways with Xtreme Gaming following their heartbreaking grand finals defeat at TI 2025, the door was open for him to find a new home. What better path for him to take than reuniting with the team’s previous coach, Maps, and looking to bring VG back to the top.

The team has already been invited to FISSURE PLAYGROUND #2, which kicks off in late October. However, VG has already confirmed that they will be playing this tournament with a stand-in. Added in their post on Weibo, VG announced that the sudden direct invite left them with no choice but to utilise Lin “Planet” Hao as a stand-in, due to Pyw's wedding coinciding with the tournament dates.
With VG back, the possibility of China’s resurgence in Dota 2 remains high. If XG and Tidebound can continue their strong performances, with the addition of Yakult Brothers and VG, we might be in for a big year for the scene. However, FISSURE PLAYGROUND #2 will play a huge role in this, as we wait to see just how well the new VG roster can perform.
