Tundra Esports are the DreamLeague Season 28 champions

Tundra Esport took DreamLeague Season 28 by storm as they powered their way through two Group Stages and the playoffs to claim victory.

After almost two weeks of intense Dota 2 action, DreamLeague Season 28 came to a thrilling conclusion with a grand final between Aurora Gaming and Tundra Esport. Both teams showed off some brilliance at times throughout the event, but the final day would leave only one as the champions. With only a short time remaining before both team’s head into PGL Wallachia Season 7, they were looking for a step in the right direction heading into the next event.

Liquid melt, while Tundra rise to champions

Before the grand finals got underway, Tundra’s challenger needed to be found. Having dominated Team Liquid on Day 1 of the playoffs, Tundra were relaxed and waiting in the grand finals. Aurora Gaming and Team Liquid were the first to the plate, with the winner heading into a matchup against Tundra. It was just not to be Liquid’s Day, as Aurora pummelled them in Game 1, before meticulous play secured the second win and the series.

Liquid, after a magnificent victory at BLAST Slam VI were eliminated in third place, while Aurora seemed primed to take on Tundra.

As the two grand finalists began their battle, it was Tundra that were miles ahead. Both Game 1 and 2 were easy for the team, as they went to match and series point at 2-0. However, the fight back began in Game 3, as Aurora’s dominating performance force what was a rather early GG call. At 2-1, Aurora was looking for the reverse sweep, and it seemed on the cards. But after the first 20-minutes, Tundra found their footing. Once they had, Aurora had no chance to make any comeback.

Having survived a gruelling group stage and the playoffs, Tundra were the victors at DreamLeague Season 28. Both teams, and the entire top 4 will be fighting next week at PGL Wallachia Season 7, as the tournaments continue.
