Tundra Esports claim fourth consecutive BLAST Slam Championship title
At this point, it might be safe to assume that in any alternative universe Tundra Esports would still be the uncontested champions of BLAST Slam events.
December 7, 2025, marked their fourth consecutive championship title claimed in the BLAST Slam circuit. Tundra Esports' latest victim? Team Yandex, who despite writing the biggest underdog story at BLAST Slam V, were no match for the defending champions.
Yandex reached the playoff stage of BLAST Slam V in Chengdu, China, after defeating The International 2025 runners-up, Xtreme Gaming, in the play-in stage. They were also responsible for eliminating the TI 2025 champions and two‑time Slam finalists, Team Falcons, earlier in the Slam V playoffs. However, despite their impressive run to the final, Tundra Esports proved to be a different kind of beast.
A grand final dominated from the draft
Team Yandex attempted a cheeky Beastmaster carry in the opening game of the best-of-five grand final, but found themselves struggling against multiple wave‑clear spells from Tundra, who had Jakiro, Invoker, Batrider and Axe on their side. Tundra’s draft was also net superior in team fights and completely neutralised Yandex’s game plan.
Tundra’s team fight coordination, overall positioning and map control were on full display in game two, where they outmanoeuvred Yandex in every major engagement courtesy of a masterclass performance from Matthew "Whitemon" Filemon on Pugna.
Down 0-2, Yandex put all their hopes in Alimzhan "watson" Islambekov’s Phantom Lancer to keep them alive. But aside from a couple of instances of server lag, they didn’t achieve much else and had to admit defeat to the ultimate raid boss that Tundra Esports once again proved to be.
Is there anything that scares Tundra?
According to Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko, who answered this question during the celebration ceremony on stage, there are two things he fears: spicy Chinese food and Vladislav "Kataomi" Semenov’s Chen.
Fortunately for him, Kataomi and his BetBoom Team, the only ones who managed to defeat Tundra in the very first BLAST Slam grand finals, in December last year, were not present at BLAST Slam V. For Pure’s sake, Tundra Esports may consider skipping a Hot Pot celebration dinner in China this time.
The four-time BLAST Slam Champions have only three days to rest before they will enter the battle at DreamLeague Season 27, which is set to commence on the 10th of December with 24 teams fighting for the title and a share of the $1,000,000 prize pool.
