Tundra blast through Liquid at DreamLeague Season 28
With two days of playoffs at DreamLeague Season 28, today saw the first grand finalist lock in, as well as one team eliminated.
After two rounds of Group Stages, it was finally time to get to the playoff stage of DreamLeague Season 28. With only two days of playoff action, and four teams, the first day would see some epic Dota 2 action with two teams fighting for their tournament lives and another two fighting for the first grand finalist spot. Xtreme Gaming, Tundra Esports, Aurora Gaming, and Team Liquid were the four remaining teams, but by the end of the day, only three would remain.
Xtreme out, Liquid down
After a strong first game in the best-of-three series, Xtreme Gaming tried their best to hold their own against an Aurora that were almost entirely unstoppable early period at DreamLeague Season 28. With an unkillable Kez in Game 1, Wang “Ame” Chunyu took over the game. But when it came to Game 3, he was nowhere to be seen, as the Chinese team crashed to fourth place at the event, while Aurora pushed forward to the lower bracket final.
Second on the cards for the day would be an intense matchup between Tundra and Liquid. With Liquid going flawless in the second group stage, it was easy to assume that they would walk through to the grand finals for their second event running. However, Tundra came out swinging with Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko and Neta “33” Shapira securing 17 kills each as they dominated the first game.
Suffering under the pressure, Liquid began to crumble in the next game. Tundra turned up the heat when it mattered most, and there was no response. Eventually Liquid threw in the towel, giving Tundra a 2-0 sweep. And, on that note, Tundra became the first grand finalists for the event, now awaiting their challenger.
With that, the second day for DreamLeague Season 28 is set. The day begins with a lower bracket final between Aurora Gaming and Team Liquid, before the winner takes on Tundra Esports in the grand finals.
