TORONTOTOKYO and Oli part ways with Aurora Gaming
With the start of 2026, we see a big change for Aurora Gaming, as two of their players exit the roster.
2025 may not have been up and down for Aurora Gaming, but they certainly struggled to get anything better than a fifth/sixth place finish. With their best placement being a fourth place at DreamLeague Season 27, the team dwindled into the latter half of the year. However, with Damien Chok “kpii” Sau-jing joining as a coach, hope was restored.
Unfortunately, with the start of the new year, Aurora have been hit with a setback, as two players exit the roster prior to the DreamLeague Season 28 Eastern Europe Closed Qualifiers.
Aurora Gaming down to three
Announced via the team’s social media platforms, Aurora confirmed that both Chan “Oli” Chon Kien and Alexander “TORONTOTOKYO” Khertek would be departing from the active roster. In the case of their ex-position 5 player, Oli, the player is now a free agent, according to the post. For TORONTOTOKYO, the position 3 player has decided to take a break from professional Dota 2 for a short while.
As the team prepare to go into the DreamLeague Season 28 Eastern Europe Closed Qualifier, this leaves them with only three players.
- Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko
- Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman
- Myroslav “Mira” Kolpakov
It is likely that we will hear of the new additions in the coming days, but at the current time of writing, no further news has been confirmed. With a ton of qualifiers on the cards during January 2026, and a big year of Dota 2 ahead, it will be interesting to see who Aurora bring in to bolster their roster moving forward.
