A long-time rivalry ends, and a new chapter begins for Team Liquid and their once fiercest adversaries.
Following Aydin "Insania" Sarkohi's retirement, changes continue to occur within the Team Liquid camp. The organisation has also bid farewell to Damien "kpii" Chok, who has been their assistant coach for the past two years and helped them achieve the ultimate goal at The International 2024.
Shortly after kpii’s departure, Team Liquid welcomed two new players to their roster. For the past couple of years, Team Liquid faced an unbreakable wall in the safe lane when playing against Marcus "Ace" Christensen and Erik "tOfu" Engel. Their rivalry with Gaimin Gladiators became one of the strongest in Dota 2 history. But now it’s time to bury the hatchet and start a new chapter as both players switched sides and will now compete under the Team Liquid banner.
To fit into Liquid’s line-up, tOfu will make a role swap, from soft to hard support, and will start the new season by also taking the captainship duties upon himself. Although for the past five years, tOfu shared the offlane with Ace, this is not the first time he will be playing as position 5. He, in fact, made his competitive career debut as a hard support back in the Hellbear Smashers days. It will, however, be the first time tOfu will have a new lane partner. While Ace will continue as an offlaner and will now share the lane with Samuel "Boxi" Svahn at Liquid, tOfu will be joining Michael "miCKe" Vu in the safe lane.

Team Liquid roster
- Michael "miCKe" Vu
- Michał "Nisha" Jankowski
- Marcus "Ace" Christensen
- Samuel "Boxi" Svahn
- Erik "tOfu" Engel
- coach: William "Blitz" Lee
Fans will get to see the new Team Liquid in action starting right away as the team has been invited to FISSURE Universe: Episode 7, the first online tournament of the season. Their first match is scheduled for today, October 9, 2025, at 13:30 CEST against MOUZ.
