Tidehunter finally gets an Arcana with Dota 2's latest treasure chest: Trove of Terror
Trove of Terror is a Halloween-themed treasure chest that brings the first Arcana of 2026. The treasure arrives after months of speculation about when the next Arcana would finally land, and it delivers far more than fans expected: two Ultra Rare Arcanas, 15 Immortal sets, and brand-new appearances for both Tormentor and Roshan.
Every Immortal Set in the treasure comes with custom ability icons, a rarity for common rewards that gives even the basic drops a premium feel.
New Arcana: Maw of the Megalodon
Tidehunter has finally received his first Arcana, and it's a monstrous one.
The Maw of the Megalodon transforms the hero into a bipedal Megalodon, complete with a massive anchor and a familiar corpse dragging from his off-hand. The corpse is Admiral Kunkka, a nod to the longstanding lore rivalry between the two heroes. The Arcana includes a new model, custom animations, effects, taunts, and voice lines. The Arcana comes in three different styles.
Drow Ranger's Arcana returns after four years
The Drow Ranger Arcana is widely considered one of the best skins in Dota 2, but it has been virtually unobtainable since 2022. Originally released as a reward for reaching Level 333 in the Aghanim's Labyrinth Battle Pass, it disappeared from the game once the event ended.
Valve has been slowly re-releasing old Arcanas inside treasures; the Wraith King Arcana returned in the Frostivus 2023 treasure, and now it's Drow Ranger's turn. The Sepulchral Stalker Ultra Rare reward grants the Drow Ranger set and the base Arcana itself if you don't already own it. The Arcana also features a new form, allowing players to switch between her original look and a grave-stalking new appearance.
How to get the Arcanas
Unfortunately, you can't buy either Arcana directly from the market or the in-game shop. The only way to obtain them is by opening Trove of Terror treasures and hoping for the best. Valve has implemented escalating odds, meaning the more treasures you open, the higher your chance of pulling an Ultra Rare. According to the drop rates:
- You have around a 50% chance to get the Tidehunter Arcana after opening 40 treasures if you haven't already gotten it
- You have a 100% chance to get it on your 50th treasure if you still haven't pulled it
New Tormentor and Roshan appearances
Trove of Terror also brings brand-new appearances for Tormentor and Roshan, both themed around the eldritch horror aesthetic of the treasure. Additionally, unlocking the new Roshan skin will grant you a mini Roshan courier as well.
Opening 12 chests earns you the Obscene Eye Ball (Tormentor skin) for free, while R'shan the Eternal (Roshan skin) takes 40 chests. Each chest runs about $ 4.99 and guarantees at least one Common item plus a small chance at a bonus item from the Rare, Very Rare, or Ultra Rare pools.
