TI2025 South America qualifiers: Teams to look out for

Ten dreams, one slot. South America qualifiers for The International are quite stacked this year.

Ten dreams, one slot. South America qualifiers for The International are quite stacked this year.

After a few years of resurgence and success stories, South America is once again experiencing a low period, and from two qualifier slots, the region is down to just one once again. Inconsistency defines this region that gave several extremely talented Dota 2 players.

Over the years, a few dared to go over the cultural differences, learn a new language and move to Europe or North America to make the next step in their career. Even fewer succeed when joining a non-SA team, and as we enter the 2025 TI season, no South American is to be found playing outside their region.

More so, this year, OG decided to form a full SA team and compete in that region instead of trying to accommodate players coming from South America to a European roster. For the first time since the organisation was formed, OG will attempt to qualify for The International via two regions.

But despite the organisation’s pedigree, OG.LATAM, featuring Héctor "K1" Rodríguez in the carry role, is not even the main favourite at the one slot available for South America.

**HEROIC **are also fighting in the closed regional qualifiers for a shot at making it to TI2025, and that’s the only team from the region to have ever won a Tier 1 LAN for SA. HEROIC wrote a page of history for their region in October 2024 by claiming the PGL Wallachia Season 2 Championship title. They became the first-ever SA team to win an international Tier 1 tournament, but that didn’t strengthen their roster. On the contrary.

A month later, they moved David "Parker" Nicho Flores to an inactive status, and by the end of the year, they would swap two players already. Roster changes continued through 2025, and their performance went downhill, leaving them outside the top 8 teams that would get a direct invite to TI2025. But regardless of their inconsistency, HEROIC should never be overlooked, more so when there is a regional battle to be held for a spot at Dota 2’s pinnacle event of the year.

However, the biggest surprise in the SA qualifiers might come from** Team Sin Compromiso**. This is a stack featuring some of the most experienced players in the region, who gathered up and sailed through the open brackets.

Team Sin Compromiso roster for TI2025 qualifiers

  • David "Parker" Nicho Flores
  • Gonzalo "DarkMago" Herrera
  • Rafael "Sacred" Jhonatan
  • Moisés "Genek" Santillan
  • Jose "Panda" Padilla

South America closed regional qualifiers will come to a close on the 8th of June, when only one team will have the chance to represent this incredibly talented but unstable region at The International 2025. So stay tuned to catch all the updates and see who will bring the SA spirit to Hamburg, Germany, this year.
