Three teams eliminated and three teams remain at PARI Universe
It was another long day of Dota 2 action from PARI Universe, with three elimination series on the cards. By the time the dust had settled, only a single team that played today would be left standing, getting them one step closer to a grand final showing. With some big turnarounds, huge comebacks, and an unlikely Bloodseeker, three teams remained going into the weekend.
Team Spirit survives
OG, Team Liquid, PARIVISION, and Team Spirit all went into the day knowing that elimination from PARI Universe was just a single series loss away. Unfortunately, only one team would come out on the other side with a guaranteed top 3 spot at the event, reaching the lower bracket final.
Spirit kicked things off against PV, with a series that is now always hyped. While PV took a solid series lead, Spirit’s comeback was immense and culminated in an Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk Bloodseeker for a decisive Game 3. With Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov unable to his Slark in gear, PV crumbled and were the first eliminated team of the day.
OG and Liquid were next up, and this one was very one-sided. Even after a fantastic showing throughout the tournament so far, today OG could not quite find their footing. John “Natsumi” Anthony Vargas was limited to only 2 kills over two games, as Liquid pummelled their opponent into elimination.
Closing out the day, the two victorious teams were left in another elimination series. What seemed as though it would be a swift and decisive win for Spirit turned into a full three-game series, with Liquid making a massive turnaround play to tie the series when down by almost 30k net worth. Spirit was dominant again in the final game, but this time, they were able to convert it into a victory, thanks inpart to Denis "Larl" Sigitov's Snapire going 16-2-14.
Team Spirit Game 3 vs Team Liquid
Spirit, with their spot in the lower bracket finals secured, will be looking to make the ultimate lower bracket run, and their challenger will be either GamerLegion or Team Yandex from the upper bracket final. PARI Universe continues on Saturday, October 31st, with a November 1st grand finals.
