The chaos of best-of-ones: BLAST Slam VI Group Stage wraps up
Three days of Group Stage action at BLAST Slam VI are now over, with ten teams heading into the last chance qualifier and play ins over the coming weekend.
Over the past three days, we have seen a ton of Dota 2 action from the Group Stage of BLAST Slam VI. With all 12 twelve teams having played 11 games, the top two secured a direct path straight into the semi-finals of playoffs. Six teams locked themselves into the play ins, while the bottom four would need to rough it out in the last chance playoffs for two spots in the play ins.
With best-of-one series throughout the Group Stage, there were many interesting results, with some upsets, big plays, and crazy moments.
One last chance for the bottom four
REKONIX came into BLAST Slam VI as an underdog, having already surprised everyone when they beat Team Nemesis to the punch in qualifying. Unfortunately, the Group Stage was not easy for the Southeast Asian squad. They shocked everyone again when they beat MOUZ, with a few close calls in many other big games, but, with 10 losses, they would be in the last chance playoffs.
Joining them would be MOUZ, who had fallen a long way since PGL Wallachia Season 6 late in 2025. A very strong start from GamerLegion, which included taking down the reigning champions of TI, Team Falcons, in the first game of BLAST Slam VI, eventually let them down. Unfortunately, HEROIC failed at their final hurdle, leaving them in the lower quarter.
The four teams heading into the Last Chance Playoffs are:
- MOUZ
- REKONIX
- HEROIC
- GamerLegion
Middle of the pack
Probably the most surprising team to end up in middle of the pack would be Falcons. However, the chaos of the best-of-ones definitely proved to be too much for some of the teams involved. The team’s last game win over Tundra Esports showed that they still have the spark alive and ready for play ins. Xtreme Gaming, Tundra Esports, Team Liquid, and Team Yandex all fell into the same boat, with a few losses along the way.
Team Spirit rounded out the middle of the pack with HEROIC losing their final game to MOUZ, which allowed them to jump above the South American squad.
The six teams moving directly into the play ins are:
- Team Liquid
- Team Yandex
- Team Falcons
- Team Spirit
- Xtreme Gaming
- Tundra Esports
Two teams dominate the Group Stage
- OG
- Natus Vincere
OG showed up big so far in BLAST Slam VI, taking down some of the strongest challengers, including Liquid, Tundra, and Falcons. The SEA squad never let a series go without a fight, although a few thrown away leads also cost them an early top seed spot. On the other side, it was Natus Vincere to rock the boat, as they are now set for their highest Tier 1 tournament placement since 2024.
Everything is now set for the coming weekend, which will see six teams eliminated over the next three days. This is now make or break if the last chance and play in teams want to have a shot at the first major event of 2026. Soon we find out if anyone can finally rip a BLAST Slam title away from Tundra, or if they will march into yet another victory.
