Team Yandex crowned as champions of PGL Wallachia Season 7
After a thrilling grand final between two Dota 2 giants, Team Yandex held on to take a 3-2 victory over Team Liquid at PGL Wallachia Season 7.
Going through a tough lower bracket final against BetBoom Team, Team Liquid secured themselves a rematch against Team Yandex, and the hopes of revenge after being beaten by the team earlier in the playoffs. However, this time everything was on the line as the two teams fought to become the champions of PGL Wallachia Season 7 and take a strong step forward before ESL One Birmingham 2026.
Team Yandex weathers a storm
Going into the grand final having already swept Liquid previously, Yandex were certainly thought of as favourites. But Liquid’s lower bracket run showed that they were not a team to be trifled with. Having gone through Team Spirit, Tundra Esports, HEROIC, and BB Team, Liquid were ready for a fight. After dropping the first two games in the grand finals, the team’s resilience began to show when they needed it most.
Yandex, with two swift victories, looked to close things out at quickly as possible, as they went into Game 3. Liquid, however, had other plans. In a gruelling game of over an hour, where Michael “miCKe” Vu’s Windrunner racked up 19 kills, Liquid mounted their comeback. Tying the series at 2-2, everything went down to the final game in the best-of-five series. The final battle was another almost hour-long one, but when the dust had settled, Yandex were the ones left standing.
Having needed to play with a stand-in after Evgeniy "Noticed" Ignatenko was unable to acquire his visa, Yandex conquered the intense PGL Wallachia Season 7 battlefield. Having won at DreamLeague Season 27 late last year, this is a huge statement for the team as they now look to make a stand at the upcoming ESL One Birmingham 2026. While second place for Liquid is not a bad look at all, the team will be feeling as though they could have done more, especially since they did not qualify to the upcoming event.
