Team Spirit put a stop to Tundra Esports domination with DreamLeague S25 championship title

Team Spirit claimed their first tournament trophy after Yatoro and Collapse returned from their prolonged post TI13 break.

DreamLeague Season 25 came to an end this Tuesday when Team Spirit and Tundra Esports played out the final two games of the postponed grand final.

Team Spirit and Tundra were the dominant forces at DreamLeague Season 25, both coming into the playoffs with impressive streaks achieved during the two group stages of the tournament. Tundra topped Group A in Group Stage 1 with a 13-1 record while Spirit were at the top of Group B with a 12-2 score. PARIVISION was the only team to overtake Tundra and Spirit before the playoffs as they won all the Group Stage 2 series to push Tundra in the second place with a 5-2 series record and Spirit in third place with a 4-3 score.

Team Spirit vs Tundra Esports 3:2

The grand final was a rollercoaster of emotions, both teams showcasing their best Dota 2 plays. Team Spirit drew first blood in the opening game, thanks to Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk on Nature’s Prophet. Yatoro’s 18 kills and 14 assists in 39 minutes of action set the tone for the series. Spirit also surprised their adversaries with a Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov’s offlane Faceless Void, which proved instrumental in team fights.

Tundra Esports quickly retaliated in game 2, with Neta “33” Shapira’s offlane Abaddon becoming an unstoppable force. The pivotal game 3 was a marathon, lasting over 66 minutes, with Yatoro once again stealing the show.

Game 4, however, was marred by controversy. Team Spirit built a significant lead, only for an over two-hour technical pause to halt the action at the 18-minute mark. Both Collapse and Larl disconnected due to DDoS attacks, with Collapse later revealing that the attacks involved spamming party invites and chat requests, crashing the game. Despite multiple attempts to reconnect and even switching accounts, the issues persisted, forcing the tournament organiser to postpone the match and order a full remake.

When game 4 finally resumed on Tuesday, Tundra capitalised on the opportunity, dominating Spirit with a 29-8 kill lead in just 26 minutes, forcing a decisive game 5. However, Team Spirit proved why they are one of the most formidable teams in the Dota 2 scene. Captain Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov, a two-time The International champion, delivered a masterclass performance on Jakiro. Around the 15 minute mark, Miposhka’s net worth surpassed all of Tundra’s heroes, while Yatoro imposed a fast-paced game with a carry Clinkz to secure the first tournament trophy in 2025 for Team Spirit.
