Team Falcons and Xtreme Gaming survive the ESL One Birmingham 2026 Group Stage

ESL One Birmingham 2026 has seen a fantastic Group Stage, with Group B producing an interesting set of results and a thrilling ending.

Group B at ESL One Birmingham 2026 was definitely not easy for anyone except Aurora Gaming and Team Spirit. The remainder of the group had to fight over the four days of Group Stage action, with the top 4 teams only being decided following the final day of action. With a new patch now out, the teams will be hoping to dominate the Playoffs and hopefully claim a huge win on their road to the Esports World Cup.

Falcons and Xtreme make a stand

While Aurora Gaming and Team Spirit made a strong showing in the ESL One Birmingham 2026 Group Stage, the rest of the teams struggled much more. Aurora only dropped a single game, which came against Spirit, while the latter lost a full series to Team Falcons, dropping them into second place. It came down to the final day of Group Stage action for the remaining teams going through into the playoffs to be confirmed.

For Falcons, after a rough PGL Wallachia Season 7, they came out swinging in Birmingham. The team showed great resilience in the face of all the naysayers, and secured the third-place spot in Group B. With a 2-0 win over Virtus.pro on the final day, Falcons also helped Xtreme Gaming to clinch the final qualifier spot in the group. With their first full victory coming right when they needed it, XG leapfrogged the likes of OG, VP, Nigma Galaxy, and Pain Gaming, making their way into the playoffs.

Unfortunately for the remaining teams, ESL One Birmingham 2026 would come to an end. With some strong contenders coming in, it was a sad ending for these teams. However, with DreamLeague Season 29 still on the cards, they might be able to still secure an invite to EWC 2026, but it will be a tough task. The team eliminated in Group B are:

  • Virtus.pro
  • paiN Gaming
  • Nigma Galaxy
  • OG

The Playoff stage for ESL One Birmingham 2026 kicks off on Friday, March 27th, with the third and fourth place teams from each group fighting it out in the lower bracket right from the start, while first and second place get the safety net of the upper bracket in a double-elimination playoffs.
